I'm turning 50 in a couple of months and have just been and booked a flight to the UK as a birthday present. I've been procrastinating like you wouldn't believe about going as I was feeling weird (?guilty) about going on my own and leaving SO and boys to fend for themselves. Having booked I still feel not entirely comfortable, but it's done now and I'm looking forward to seeing my family and friends.

My sister has had an awful time due to illness and mental problems but I'm taking her to lunch today and will surprise her with a $ gift so she can have a little splurge. I feel so great that she is laughing and happy and cheery for the first time in months.

My girl Polly, who is now a tripod dog, seemed to have more energy and zest for living this afternoon. If she'd tried to sneak-eat some cat food, I'd have been even happier.

I've had an awful week (got laid off), but figured I'd look on the bright side and share my good news:
I am going to Israel in May!

Here's my happy thing! I just wish it would warm up enough to hang out with him at the dog park....oh well, at least he doesn't mind the cold too much anymore.
Edit: his name is Louis (pronounced "Louie", because he's French)! He's a Frenchie. He's just a little big and his ears are a little floppy. We tell him he's perfect anyway, though. Just like all humans don't look like models, he's perfect the way he is. :-)

What's his name?^

My happy thing is that Polly is now well enough to misbehave, and she has. The smell was awful, but her pleasure and determination were worth it (she rolled in something vile, twice).

Today's happy thing - CUPCAKES!!!
Why settle for birthday cake when you can have all different flavors of cupcakes? These are for my dad's 80th birthday tomorrow. It makes me happy just looking at them.

This is a well timed bump.
I got my letter if acceptance into the RN program I have been trying to get into for a couple of years. I am so happy I have a chance at a real future and career for myself!

I managed to walk my dogs during the brief spell of bright sunshine this morning. It felt so nice to be drenched in yellow.

My dad had a great birthday doing his favorite things - eating (ham n cabbage, artichokes, cupcakes), watching golf on tv with his 3 daughters (and our mom too of course), opening presents (cards from President Obama and our Senator).

I'm tickled. I received a personal email from the President of Bloomingdales. He said I made his day. tee hee.
I had emailed him about the amazing service I received from 2 sales associates. The queen couldn't have had better service.
The icing on the cake is that one of the people I wrote to him about is new and the other one had told me that the new one had been feeling overwhelmed and discouraged. This will be a shot in the arm for her.

Aww CP, you are such a sweetie, do you know how awesome it is that you went out of your way to show your appreciation for customer service you recieved? So many people don't, you are such a doll! And to go all the way to the president, just awesomeness.

I had to babysit 2 of my grandchildren (8 & 10) from Thurs to Sun. It would have been overwhelming except my sweetie volunteered to help me. He was at my side the whole time, cooking, cleaning after them and disciplining when necessary. My granddaughter told me that "Pops" was a keeper.

I'm planning a trip to Dubai in 4 weeks time! So if everything goes according to plan (which I hope it does) then we will be there for 2 weeks hanging out in a private beach villa with spa services and doing a camping trip in the desert among other fun filled activities. My hubby's bff is a pilot for Emirates & him and his family love it there so it will be fun to see them again. I plan to have as much fun as I can and relax!! We are still looking into Visas because Canadians now have to apply for Visas to visit the UAE.
I also booked a beach front private villa in Tobago for August! I am going with my dad and our family and then we are going to spend a few days in Trinidad which should be fun. I've never been there.
