How do I get rid of smoke smell?

My in-laws gave us their old bed and we slept on it last night, I had a hard time getting to sleep, cause all I could smell was cigerette smoke that I guess has seeped into the mattress. Does anyone know how to get rid of that smell? I thought maybe diluting vinegar with water in a spray bottle and misting it on the matress, but I don't want to ruin the matress. Any suggestions would be greatly appericated. Thanks
Febreze the heck out of it, then if you can, put the mattress outside in the sun. (I didn't check to see where you are - finding sun this time of year may be a challenge!)

If you can't put it outside, just Febreze it again.

That said: FreBreeze! Vacuuming it may also help.
Fat does not make you fat. It's actually pretty important.
Take stockings or cheesecloth and fill with baking soda - lay on top. These will literally suck the stink out.

Then Febreeze for the pretty smell!

Buy a spray bottle of Febreeze AND a giant refill bottle of the same & get busy!

I had to do this with hubby's truck bench seat. Three soakings took care of the problem. The truck belonged to an old farmer & he had it since it was new (1995) & smoked cigars & pipes in the thing.

Febreeze for sure! I would probably even go the extra step of using carpet fresh (or just baking soda!!) on it , vacuuming with the hose attachment, THEN febreze and sun if possible.
Is there anyone out there that can't handleFebreeze? The smell gives me a terrible headache.
