I made this on on Friday.
Coconut water (or you can just use water)
1/2 cup blueberries
~ 1/2 to 1 cup cup strawberries
1 banana
Several LARGE handfuls of raw kale
Small handful of baby carrots
It's not the prettiest thing to look at, but it tasted great. I think some avocado in there would have been yummy, too.
If you google green smoothies and/or victoria boutenko, you can find a virtual ton of great recipes online, too.

My go-to every day smoothie
1/2 C mango, frozen
4 dark sweet cherries, frozen (I get mine at Target)
1/2 banana, fresh (frozen works too)
handful of fresh spinach
1/2 C skim milk or unsweetened vanilla almond milk
1/2 C vanilla lowfat yogurt
splash of water to help things blend
Blend!
My favorite yogurts are Stonyfield organic french vanilla lowfat or Wallaby vanilla bean lowfat

Everytime I make a smoothie it tastes of banana, no matter how little I put in it.
Do smoothies really need bananas?

Nope. I do not like bananas in most things and avoid them in smoothies because they take over.
The smoothies I linked are banana-free. You can put anything you want in a smoothie.
For me I tend to not like green smoothies that are about hiding the taste of greens in there, which is most green smoothies. I know most people like them, though.

The only way the banana takes mine over is if it's way, way too ripe, otherwise the half banana seems to be just right.
That's the great thing about smoothies, you can leave things out and change it up until it's just right for you.

I've been putting cayenne pepper (about 1/8 tsp) in my breakfast smoothies for a little kick!
1/4 c. froz fruit, like peaches or raspberries
1 scoop protein powder
1 serving greens powder
1 tbsp flax
1 tbsp shredded unsweetened coconut
6 oz coconut milk
1/8 tsp cayenne
(no bananas!)

So much banana hate LOL. I love banana! However, I'm biased as I'm allergic to all melons and berries. I take which fruits I can have.
My favorite protein drink is chocolate whey protein, peanut butter, banana and almond milk. Plus ice of course. If you freeze your banana, it's so much better.
Torani (there's another brand too but I can't think of it) makes loads of sugar free syrups. Those are great for smoothies. The Blackberry is my favorite; even though I can't eat them I can drink fake flavored syrup ones LOL. I especially love it in tea, yum!

I just had a kale, carrot, and chocolate Pure Protein smoothie. All I tasted was chocolate.
I used 6 medium sized carrots (sliced down the middle and ends cut off) and 4 handfuls of kale. I tossed this in the blender with about 1 cup of water and 2 scoops of protein. Blended it up! It was a little thick and 'gritty' but I don't mind that.

I drink smoothies several times a week and keep them pretty simple -- yogurt, skim milk, frozen bananas, blueberries, strawberries, whey protein powder, a little chocolate syrup (Yes, I "cheat") <-- Various combinations of these ingredients. I've just recently started experimenting with adding a little bit of instant coffee. Really like that!! Also plan to experiment with adding fresh spinach (Was never "brave" enough to try anything green before, but so many people tell me you can't really taste it when it's added, so I figure, why not.)
I've sometimes added cranberries or raspberries, but they don't blend well enough for my taste. It very probably is that I need a better blender.
ETA Update: The smoothie I made this evening i added a handful of fresh spinach to, and it came out tasting just fine. I don't know why I always thought it would be like sucking down baby food spinach.

My standard one lately is raspberries, blueberries, peaches (all frozen), a thing of vanilla greek yogurt, a bunch of spinach (like probably a cup) and to thin I use carrot/apple/ginger juice I make up in the juicer. I made a large batch and have been using that up (yes I know they lose some nutrients soon after juicing. It's just better than a milk of some sort). They are sweet and slightly veggie tasting, but in a good way. I love em! I don't mind raspberry seeds in mine.

I like strawberry basil smoothies. Not too sweet, just herbilicous! And basil is a green veggie
Can you add alcohol? Baileys? Kalua?
Can you mix the protein powder into baked goods somehow? High protein muffins?
