So just because you are stressed or relaxed now will not make your period come sooner or later.
Yep. So not knowing if/when you ovulated makes it a big guessing game.

Also, false positives are pretty rare but false negatives can be pretty common, especially if you account for the ones caused by user error.

All forms of birth control (excluding abstinence) are man-made. Man-made things fail, this includes pills, shots, condoms etc. I know that some of these failures are due to human error, but BC is not fail-proof.

I know user error accounts for many of these failures, but why are we acting like all BC is 100%? Am i missing something?

I had a condom break on me once. No rough nails. No rough sex. Stored properly. Same brand/sizze we always used. Nothing out of the ordinary. It just broke. I ended up using Plan B

Most non barrier forms of birth control - IUD, Nuvaring, oral contraceptives, including sterilization - are 99% effective. So while there is a small possibility that there could be an issue, it isn't statistically possible to be as often as people try to claim.

Barrier methods have a lesser efficacy percentage, condoms, NFP, spermicide, etc - but they're even still between 88 and 97% effective - probably bc there's more chance of user error.

So if you were absolutely against pregnancy, the latter wouldn't be good to use alone. But still fairly effective if you're aware of your ovulation, which I believe every woman should be. Especially if you're going to be sexually active. That's just a personal responsibility.

Using my iphone with my toe thumbs. There will be typos.

Sure, BC fails...but most of the time it's from user error. In the case of Depo Provera, it's something like 99.999999% effective. When tested clinically before release, pregnancy rates were zero. So, DP failures are from user error, and, since it's given as an injection, that user error is most of the time because the woman is lying, because if they were to follow the protocol set out by the manufacturer, they would not be pregnant when they get the first injection, or....would not be pregnant when getting repeat injections, if they got them on time.

And I've never understood using a condom AND bc AND still getting pg?

Uhm, condoms do tear from nails and rough sex (I'm not even going to sugar coat it). My ex used to not think and pull the condom off by the tip instead of rolling it off.

And I wasn't on BC I just used condoms.

I'm deleting my posts on the non hair section (that don't involve nail polish) because of NC.com's policy on quoting us on other parts of their site.

I don't understand the "freaking out" part if you didn't do anything to actively prevent the possibility.
