Anyone ever gotten a false negative pregnancy test?? I'm freaking out!!!
 

So, my period is 4 days late and I'm freaking out! Usually it's like. Clock work every 32 days, but it was due Wednesday and nothing!
I did have unprotected sex during my fertile week but he did pull out, I know it's not 100% effective which is why I'm so nervous!
So today I took a pregnancy test and it was negative, but I'm still worried. I read that it could be too early to tell or something. I just broke up with my bf last week so I haven't told him yet... Anyone had a similar experience or any advice?

Can you go to a clinic and get a real pregnancy test done?

I could but not until Thursday at the earliest. I have job interviews Monday and Wednesday and I work on the board of elections on Tuesday. I guess I was just hoping for some peace of mind until then.

As far as the pull out method, I'm not too keen on it myself but at the time my bf and I weren't fully against having a baby, we weren't trying but it was whatever happens happens. Now I dumped him and I'm worried. I also wonder should I tell him I'm late now, since he knows I was due Wednesday or should I wait until I know for sure? I was thinking I don't want to wait to long because he might feel betrayed or something if 2 weeks from now I call him saying im preggers an he knew I was due weeks ago.

False negatives are relatively common. Wait a couple of days and do another test first thing in the morning.

Yea I've had a false negative. My period was about 6 weeks late. Unfortunately I ended up having a miscarriage at 7 weeks. The only way to b sure that ur preggers is to have a blood test. The test u buy at the store r just as effective as the test the doc will give. In the mean time just chill cuz stress can delay your period. And if u really wanna b sure wait a month until u completely miss a cycle. I know it may be a long wait but it is not unusual for a women to miss a period.

This. I'd wait 2-3 days and then do another test, with first-morning urine.

And, no, I wouldn't tell him anything until I knew for sure.

Can I ask how quickly you dumped him after the deed?

Lol. Well, the deed that could have impregnated me was October 20, I dumped it Nov 1. But we had had sex plenty in between.

I agree. I had a false negative with this pregnancy and then got a positive 3 days later.

That's what I was worried about. I really don't want to be pregnant! Breaking up with him was a hard decision and it would be impossible for me to stick to my guns if he had to be around. I'm never ever late...ever so my gut is telling me I'm pregnant. My bestie thinks I should tell him now so he's not thrown off or doesn't think it's his if I don't find out for a few weeks. I dunno what I'm gonna do!

u had unprotected sex on the 20th (17 days ago), your period is several days late and u took the test today and it came back negative. I would trust the test at this point.

I was 15days late in Aug. Just like you I was very regular up to that point, I could practically tell you the time of day I'd start.

I know it's hard, but you have to relax. Stress will make everything worse. I took the test got a neg then waited a really long week. That test was also neg. I'm not pregs and I'm back to being regular.

If breaking up with him was that hard you could be stressing yourself out and that's why you're late.

Wait a few days, up to a week and take the test again.

Don't forget to breathe.

Well that's the day I THINK it happened, but we also had unprotected sex on the 22nd, 25th, 26th and 29th. Basically we never use condoms...I wouldnt be worrie except that I've never in 10+ years missed a period or been late and that now we're broken up.

I think it takes 2 weeks for HCG to show on a pregnancy test. So if u got preggo on the 20th, 22nd or even 25th, I think u would have gotten a positive test by now since you have missed ur period. The 26th and 29th - yea, too soon to tell on the old pee stick.

Don't tell the guy unless you know for sure! That would be some serious girl-on-guy game playing. If you don't know for sure, you'd just be telling him for the drama it creates.

Tests can come out negative up until you're actually late for your period. For right now, there's no reason for anyone else to be freaking out but you. There will be plenty of time to tell him once you know for sure.

Her period is late, but she may have conceived just a week ago. When should she retest is the question. I'm beginning to confuse myself now. I thought it takes 2 weeks and a late period for it to show on a preg test. But my bestie is here and she said it may take 3 weeks for HCG to show on a test.

Might I also add I've been taking a detox called sonne 7...supposedly it flushes your system and could dilute your urine. The reason I'm taking it is because I have done some recreational drug in the past and am job hunting and was told it would make it so that thc didn't show up in my urine when tested. Could that effect the hcg as well??

I know some people will judge me for that but, whatever...

Well, it takes two weeks for a pregnancy test to come out positive bc you ovulate two weeks before your period, and you get pregnant when you ovulate.

If she's late for her period, but only had unprotected sex a week ago, I would guess she's probably not pregnant.

But I don't know. I'm confused. Now. You're probably just paranoid. Hopefully. :)

I had the same thing happen. I was under stress and I was always like clockwork. Took the test...negative. Took it again a wk later...still negative but still no period.long story short two gyno visits (two different doctors) and 2 months later and I wad still negative. I was told by the second doctor that the tests at the drug store are just as good as the ones the doctors use. He saw I was still panicked and so he gave me a blood test and gave me a couple if days with of progesterone. Three days on that and I got my period.

Give it time. And most important...RELAX. The stress Will make other worse. Retest in a wk or so and if its still negative then its more than likely right. Do the test in the morning though, when u first wake up. First urine of the day Will have the highest concentration of hormones.
