I have. You know one (of the many) the things that bothers me? IN WHAT WORLD do you see a man molesting a child in a shower and not go to the police? Instead this guy goes to his boss, who goes to his boss, who goes to his boss, who sweeps it under the rug.

Someone shoot me on the spot if I don't report a sexual assault on a child that I actually see with my own eyes.

I don't understand how anyone can not go to the police. These guys from the VP on down didn't add up to half a brain to use between each other. Just dumb. I think the lying just makes it worse. You didn't think it was "that serious"? You thought it was "horseplay"? Then why were you having emergency meetings at JoePa's house on a weekend? It's one thing to lie but....dumb lies??? Jesus Christo.

The more that I think about it they were just covering ass. They probably thought the boy was going to go to police or tell his parents. Especially since the dumb grad a$$. saw everything (the boy saw him too) and did nothing but run away, it made them look especially bad. After a few weeks they saw it wasn't going to happen so they just wanted Sandusky to not brings kids there anymore and forget it ever happened. No concern about the kid at all.

That's exactly what I said to my coworker. Why don't people go directly to police? It's the same thing with the sex abuse in the Catholic Church...how the parents go to Church officials instead of the police. I just can't understand it. Maybe the graduate assistant who witnessed the rape (the sick **** was anally raping the child) thought he was doing the right thing by going to the higher ups, but why? What's going on in these institutions that reporting to management instead of directly to police feels like the right thing to do? And why does it seem to always happen with sex crimes? Because I'm pretty sure it had been a murder he witnessed he would have gone to the police.

It's so horrible. I keep imagining all these vulnerable boys trying to get someone to listen to them. And no one does. Can't get it out of my head.

It's truly disgusting and I feel so sorry for those boys. How dare this man do this to them? I'm so glad he got caught but it should have happened way earlier then this. I hope he rots in hell.

I am very sorry that I read the actual written complaint. I wish I'd never done that.

Just curious - what initial complaint?

That one that's linked in the above article. If you've suffered sex abuse yourself, I urge you NOT to read it.

No, thank God I haven't, but I don't think I'll read it.

I don't know how to process this. I'm supposed to go to the game this weekend against Nebraska. I can't imagine what the atmosphere will be.

Posted from my smart phone; please excuse typos or brevity.

And another thing, why did Paterno cover this up? Wouldn't it have made him look better if he had just went to police himself. I just don't get the way these people think. He would have been a hero had he told authorities what Sandusky was doing. But no, let's sweep it under the carpet and pretend it isn't there. Do these people not have a conscience? How did he sleep at night?

I guess I just don't understand how this could have ruined Paterno and his almighty 409 wins. WTF?

I'm just sitting here shaking my head. I just don't get it.

when you walk in on a child being sexually assaulted, you scream and yell, snatch the child, and immediately call the police from the closest phone. you don't go through administration or other channels. because when you do that, you give people a chance to minimize, skew, or completely change your account by the time police do become involved.

i couldn't get through the second victim's story. it's sickening.

children and women all over the world seem to be expendable and disposable at the hands of powerful men. and men in power will protect each other.

Just read that the school will be paying these men's legal fees, and the kicker is that it's a state school that receives funding from PA tax payers like me!

I'm confused. Was he seen with 2 boys and neither got reported to the police?

There must be some sort of charges that can be filed against those that didn't report it.

If you read the Grand Jury complaints, it seems like there were at least three separate witnesses of sexual acts with three separate boys. It's just insane. None of these people even seem real because they didn't step in and didn't report anything to the police. That janitor, for how upset he was described to be, didn't file a report.

I have no words.

we really need to talk about these situations publicly.
we keep these things secret so we don't know what to do when we're faced with seeing someone being sexually abused.
i can imagine that even if you call the police there is a big chance that the man will deny it and then the child out of embarrassment will deny it and you'll look like a big crazy liar.
i think there needs to be rules about this sort of thing.
my coworker was being harassed and he told our boss and our boss told him that, "now that you've told me i am forced to tell the police."
my coworker really didn't want to do that, but that is the rule here at the university where i work.
i'm glad my boss had that training.
we should all have it, it's not common sense like we'd like to believe.
