HDC, I hate you!!!

Am i the only one? this stitch is so annoying!!!!!!! It's always so hard to pull through all the loops.

any suggestions? Am I yarning over too tight?

I am working on a cowboy hat that I have to get done by Sunday for a baby shower

You might be yarning over too tightly. The way I try to prevent that is by holding the working yarn more loosely in my left hand. But for the record, I HATE the HDC stitch too! It's too many frickin loops! (((HUGS)))

Ha! At least I know I'm not alone in hating it. :-)

I thought I made it through all the HDC in this pattern. Nope. The next 7 rows are nothing but HDC. GRRRRRRR

I've taken to "pinching" the stich that I'm about to go through. That and yarning over a little looser is helping.

One row down, 6 more to go. (of course until I read the rest of the pattern, LOL)

ok, so maybe i don't hate the hdc as much as i thought. I was doing it incorrectly. The blue hat was all wrong. The brown one actually looks like a cowboy hat

I don't have problems with HDC but I crochet a little loose anyway. Plus I was doing a DC7tog in 2 of the cowls I made so the 3 loops is nothing compared to 8! Still I have trouble with HDC when they're next to each other. In the octopus the tentacles are all HDC and its a PITA.

That cowboy hat is awesome! I love it!

You can buy just the hat, boots, or the set.

She is also on Raverly.

I am so going to buy that pattern! Thank you!

How hard is it to shape the hat after you've crocheted it????? She uses Caron Soft yarn which is a very soft acrylic. What did you use?

I also used the Caron soft. I might try another brang once I get this one done.

The shaping does take some work but it's not that bad if you've done the pattern/gauged correctly. To help she also has

- A video
- Forum
- Handout (just on shaping)

It's only 19 rounds for the newborn and takes about half a skein. I would say that there there are 3 tricky rows, 2 of which she has videos for. Even with them being "tricky", i got it the first time I did the pattern.

Check out her facebook, she might have coupons available

She has a lot of cute patterns. I love the hat. Also I really like the caron soft yarn for my amigurumi. It surprisingly takes really good shape as long as the stitches are tight.

Ok, so 3rd times the charm. I re-did with a G instead of a J needle. Easy peasy when it comes to shaping. It practically shaped itself as I was working

I made this scrubby sponge today and it worked great on my dishes. I may never buy a sponge again. Plus it's pretty darn cute.

I also finished this cowl the other day. My nephew was nice enough to model it for me. I watch him a few days a week and he loves to watch me work.

Here's the hat I just finished for my newborn niece with removable flower and bow. They have strings on the back so you can just untie them to remove and retie to add back. You can use neither, one or both.

The hat and bow are knitted; the flower is crocheted.

How adorable! I love it.

I sew buttons on the back of my removable stuff so they can be popped in or out. It's so fun when you can change the look of accessories.
