Are there certain colors you won't wear (and would you be annoyed at this?)

Remember the book Color Me Beautiful from the 80s? According to that book, I'm a deep winter. I avoid yellow, brown, orange, gold and bronze worn near my face. I look good in colors with a blue undertone.

I think purple looks fine on you. I can't imagine that shade looking bad on anyone.

I avoid bright citric yellows and greens. I love yellow, but I only wear darker shades... not quite mustardy, but halfway there. Same thing for orange. As long as the shade isn't too bright, I risk it. I also don't like clothes that look too much like my skin color nor do I care for washed out pastels. But I do like white and I love beige that is slightly lilac-ish. Although... I hate lilac. Not because of my complexion, it's just that in my head lilac = lavender = air freshner = poorly disguised poop smell perfume (growing up my folks didn't believe in using matches).
I don't wear mustard, rust, pastels or red. The first two don't look very good on me, the last two I just dislike. Your mother's nuts, the color looks nice on you.

I haven't got the slightest idea how to change people, but I still keep a long list of prospective candidates just in case I should ever figure it out.
I don't wear tan, yellow, or pastels.

I love jewel tones, black, and grey. My most worn colors are ruby, black, sapphire, eggplant, and emerald.

I don't wear red. It's just not good with my skin tone. But I look good with red hair. Weird. I can't think of another color I wont wear but I gravitate towards darker colors.

I'm with mrspoppers; there are shades of any color that I can wear. I don't look very nice in most warm shades, but cool ones look very nice on me.

Oh, and nice butt, springy!

This whole cool vs. warm tones seems a bit phooey to me. That or I have an oddball complexion for which none of the rules apply. I prefer to go with my instincts.
Cheetara, I did the whole color thing back in the 80's. I soooo wanted to be a Winter. I loved all the colors. I ended up being an Autumn. Now, I see I'm more of a combination of the two. I'm pretty pale, but I have golden/olive tones to my skin and dark hair and light eyes.

I can pretty well wear most colors, except for white and yellow. They both really wash me out. I love a nice, crisp white shirt with jeans, but I have to settle for an ivory instead.

Springcurl, you need to ask your mom if she would say the things she says to you, to a friend. I would think probably not. I'm sure she means well, but you're a grown ass woman and don't need her to critique you.

I think you look awesome and would look good in any color with your coloring. Nice waist!

I like that color on you! (But I would agree the jacket's too baggy.)

I'm a Clear Spring according to the color theory stuff, and I look good in black, lime green, tomato red, light turquoise, stuff like that. I look awful in mustard yellow and in dull or murky or muted colors, like my favorite Fleetwood Mac tour shirt, which is a smoky mid-range purple. I threw out a lot of stuff because it just made me look blah or tired.

I think that color looks lovely on you, though the shape is doing you no favors.

I don't wear mustard or chartreuse or yellowish beiges (at least not near my face), they all tend to wash me out. I generally do better with with cool tones and intense colors. There are some shades of yellow and orange I look OK in but I tend to avoid them because I don't like them. Same with really pale pastels, I just dislike them.

I don't think I look good in pastels, but I don't like them much anyway so maybe they do look good and I just can't see it. I know I look awful in olive green (it took seeing several really bad pictures of myself for me to notice the connection). Other than that I wear what I like, and I really can't tell if the colors work for me or not. No one has ever been rude enough to tell me that a particular color looks bad on me, and if I like what I see when I look in a mirror, I'm good.
Eres o te haces?
My mom never told me what colors looked bad on, she only talked about what colors suited me best.

I do NOT wear yellow. Ever. I also stay away from orange and all neon like colors. I look so terrible in anything remotely yellow or orange.

I look best in purple, medium blues, and greens that err more on the side of blue than yellow

I have a very very particular style, mostly romantic gothesque type things, so I will only really wear a few colours. Red, deep purple, midnight blues and brighter blues, green, lots of jewel toned colours....alot of black. I always loved black even as a kind. I thought it was fascinating as a colour for some reason especially that to me there was and still is a comforting darkness to the colour black.

I thought purple was one of those colors that looks good on everybody, but maybe that's because I like wearing purple too?

I always avoided yellows and oranges. Until last year, when DD found she didn't like a certain orange tunic her grandmother had bought her, so I took it. I get compliments on that shirt every time I wear it, so maybe I can wear orange, and should try some yellow, too! I wonder if it has something to do with the particular shade?

I kind of wish I had my colors 'done' back inthe 90s. Anyone else remember that?

No pastels either. I like jewel tones.

I can wear some shades of coral, and I look best in purples and teals. Thank goodness, because those are my favorite colors!

I don't wear anything in the orange/yellow/gold range because I just don't look good in those colors.

I'm super picky about green - kelly green is the only green I'll wear, and that only very rarely (gotta really be in the mood to wear it...or it's gotta be St. Patrick's Day).

I do like a deep blue-green, like a really dark peacock blue.

Other than that, I'll wear about any color.

I love color. I love wearing color. I'm very pale, with yellow undertones, and I can look washed out pretty easy. I tend to avoid all pastels--not really on purpose (I think they're pretty) but because I put them on and look in the mirror and it looks like I have the flu or something. I also don't wear a lot of white. Oatmeal is terrible on me. I love love love tan and camel colors, but it's rare for me to find one that really works.

I think color is like other style choices. It's not JUST about what you like, but about what works on you. I love short dresses, but don't have the thighs to wear them, and I love asymmetrical bob haircuts, but that would look terrible with my curls. I love pale yellow, but don't have the coloring to wear it,

In the summer when I have a nice tan going I'll wear whatever. In the winter I really avoid red because I just do NOT look good in most shades of red.

I won't wear pink, but that's because I just don't really like pink. I have some colors I look better in then others (I look fabulous in a deep emerald green!) but I can wear most colors well enough.

I tend to look better with blue based colors, but that might just be because I like those colors more....
