I am not trying to be *****y but why start a thread asking for opinions and then argue about people's opinions and observations?? What were you looking for when you started this thread?? If you already know what you are going to do why bother??

Sometimes I think WileE is just thinking out loud, so to speak, as many of us do here. I just hope WileE listens to what she's saying, as well as what others are saying, and that it sinks in.
Let it go WileE! Enjoy your Thanksgiving!

xcptnl...the only thing I wanted to make clear were the assumptions being made. Like I said, I would be the first to bust his balls.
I accept everyone's views; however, I wanted to be specific about certain statements.
As we all know, when we start a thread we are taking a huuuuge risk. I like to read different input b/c in some way I grow more from others' experiences.
I kinda have an idea of what I might do, but as CL said, the thinking out loud helps me many times.
I like to bounce issues/ideas/etc off hubby, as well, you know?
btw...had a GREAT convo w/ m&d yesterday.
Looking forward to new changes in 2012 and a better year
Hope y'all had a great TG...

Are antiques and yes, we have discussed he has been storing it at my place for free and I am using it.
Spoke to them yesterday/last nite and we all agreed we are done. He's moving out the w/e of 12/16 and gets no more help...we will all move on w/ our lives...tho it's gonna kill them, literally, if he f's up again...ah well, what can ya do? They get it and have accepted it.. I wish y'all could meet my folks...brings me to tears how I feel about them...
Yep, I do remember our convo about the money for college and your situation...
I am doing it for the nephews to come here, dare I say, not for X-mas. What they get from us is a certificate for their college fund, if they go and I control that, as my dad and I agreed on w/ other things, as well...
Hope that clears up some ?s...
Also, I am taking possession of the bed he had stored at my folks b/c it won't fit in the new place he's moving to. He gets his bunk beds back for when his kids come to stay and I will put the new bed in the little one's room. It looks a lot like this one...

Antiques aren't worth jack in this current economy, as we have found out the hard way when trying to sell FIL's estate full of antiques for pennies on the dollar of what was paid for them.

I don't think she's planning on selling them?
Glad things are falling into place Wile! Hopefully you and your parents can relax a bit!
Love the bed! Should make a pretty cute kids room

It doesn't matter if she's selling them or not. If she's keeping them for collateral, or as repayment for a loan, they're not worth very much. Perhaps she should have them appraised before accepting them in lieu of cash.

Not all antiques are created equal tho and as hubby has said, even GP, it depends on what someone is willing to pay for it...
I have lots in my house and have paid varying amounts, depending on what it was...
Found this, which is quite interesting...

The whole antiques market is down, even original Chippendales.
My FIL collected pottery, like Yellow Ware and Fiesta, 17th-19th century jugs, hand-forged kitchenware, handwoven baskets, wood furniture (armoires, buffets, hutches, china cupboards, doughboys, drysinks, etc), original art....and a whole lotta garbage, cat crap, mice, rats, and bugs.
Oh, and books. A hundred f*cking thousand books.
