My 17 year old cat was hit by a car ....:(
My 17 year old cat was hit by a car and died. We've had him for over 6 years and he never went near the road before. He was terrified of cars. He usually stayed on the porch or in the yard.
I tried keeping him in the house when we first got him. He was dumped off at my house and he never acclimated to being an inside cat (peed all over everything, scratched up door posts and terrorized the other cat) so I had to move him back outside!
It's possible he was getting old and sick and ready to die. I wonder if he was going off to die. He was losing his teeth and just generally was looking old and tired.
He will be missed!

awww I'm sorry!!!!
We have a couple of outside cats, that can't adapt to inside quite well either, one maybe able to Its just we do have an inside cat, and we're not sure how she'll act but we love them all too. They usually sit on the chairs on the front porch or hang out in the back of our house they're all so sweet.

I'm so sorry to hear this. We just lost our 17 year-old cat in August - she had kidney failure. I'm still so sad and lonely without her. I hope you find comfort in your memories of him.

Beckstar, I am so sorry. I understand. We just lost our dog a few days ago. Unexpectedly like you. It is so hard. Hugs...
I believe they know.

We just had to put a 15 year old cat that we had for over 9 years to sleep a week and a half ago. I can totally relate to the grief you are feeling. You don't realize how losing a pet knocks the wind out of you. My deepest sympathy.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Losing a pet is so hard. They really are such faithful companions.

I'm so sorry for your loss.
I had a cat that didn't like being inside either. I tried and tried but he hated it. Wanted to be in the garage or outside. It's not your fault.

Thank you, everyone!
I want to share a funny about Big Kitty. We came home a few days ago and he was sitting in my son's bedroom window. We have no idea how he got in but he was just there. Now that I look back I kind of feel like it was his saying goodbye.
Again, thank you!
