baby aspirin & the skin

after watching a recent dr. oz episode he mentioned taking baby aspirin as part of cancer prevention. i don't remember the whole explanation (i have the show recorded so i will go back and look) but he did say something about inflammation and baby aspirin helping with inflammation in the body. anyway, i was at target and found a big bottle of the "aspirin therapy dosage" of aspirin for really cheap so i bought it and started taking it, just the one tiny 81 mg pill.

now i haven't done anything different with my skin, no change in products, supplements, techniques, makeup, nothing. the only thing i do now that i didn't do before is take the baby aspirin. my skin has been breakout free for awhile now! i'm wondering if there's a connection to the baby aspirin keeping inflammation down and it keeping the inflammation that causes acne down too. anybody have any thoughts on this? i've never seen baby aspirin recommended in an acne treatment program, only for the face as a mask which i don't do. i'm just curious if there's a connection or if it's just a coincidence.

also, how many of you take baby aspirin for general health period? i did a search so i wouldn't start a new thread if there was one but i didn't see a baby aspirin specific thread.

Aspirin has some really severe side-effects that are surprisingly common for an OTC drug. And the likelihood of these occurring can be greatly increased by certain minor health conditions. I'd talk to a doctor before deciding to take it every day.

I've been taking an aspirin-a-day for years, and I still break out.

Too lazy at the moment, but I'm pretty sure the benefits aren't as clear in women as they are in men, either.

I take a regular strength aspirin daily and so does my husband. The studies show reduction in cancer, reduction in heart disease, etc, etc.

haven't heard of any benefits between aspirin taken orally and acne. topical BHA (salicylic acid which aspirin is) is very beneficial for acne.

Crush a few asprins with the back of a spoon and mix equal parts with cetaphil or another good mild cleanser.

Scrub into your skin gently. It will be quite drying and exfoliating. It's almost alike a chemical peel, so be careful. Works wonders for oily skin, blackheads and dull complexion.
