coffee at home - help me decide

Like Tree46Likes

There must be something wrong with me, I feel extremely guilty tossing a used k cup in the trash. I hate that I can't recycle that plastic.

I should start a Keurig thread to see what k cups people like and don't like or maybe search and see if there is one already.

They're pods, kind of like this. But you can find them in the grocery store too.

We have the ecobrew reusable cup, but we're having issues with it that we've got to troubleshoot.

iroc, I haven't seen those! I'll check them out.

I've decided that I'll never get down to my original weight, and I'm OK with that--After all, 8 pounds 2 oz. is just not realistic.
I use my Keurig for the few times a week that I'd like some coffee. I don't find the K-cups to be overly expensive. A box of 12 cost 9 dollars (8 with a coupon) which is less than a dollar for a cup of coffee. Cheaper than McDs!

i didn't know you couldn't recycle them. i recycle probably 60-75% of what i use and consume. i'm so serious about recycling. this is a k-cup bummer.

If you like tea but need more of a kick, I suggest guayusa. It's similar to yerba mate; Runa is the brand I buy. I find it provides as much "yup, you're awake" energy as coffee but without the brain fog.

As for coffee, I have no problem with daily Starbucks/coffee house of choice. A couple of dollars is a small price for convenience. You run into trouble when you forgo straight coffee or americanos and buy $4, 400-calorie sugar drinks every day.

For home, my trick to get me out of bed in the morning is an affogato made with a stovetop moka and gelato. Easy and decadent.

I keep a French press at work but usually stick to the office Keurig.

Why yes, I use ALL of the above on a daily basis.

But at least the pews never attend yoga!
We do compost so that's where all the coffee grounds will go. Mr. Spring has a worm bin (ewwwww. haha) that a lot of our stuff goes in and our city also provides a yard waste bin we can put all our other compost in, which is awesome.

We fill our recycle bin so quickly, I can't imagine the trash we'd generate if it all went to the landfill and there are only two of us! It's crazy.

My parents have the same Keurig you got, Spring. They use these daily (my Dad doesn't like any of the flavours in the premade ones) and it works well.

I'm curious as to how well it works. I like the idea.

I don't really drink coffee that much, but the few times I do, coffee from my parents' Keurig tastes watery, IMO. Of course I still use it, because it is super convenient and not horrible or anything... But it always tastes a little off, in my opinion. Maybe it's because I use the K-cups instead of the reusable thing that the rest of my family uses.
