fibromyalgia?

I was vit-d deficient at one time, but it's been remedied and I take a 5000iu every day as well.

That's a good thing to bring up though, it's an important thing to have checked!

GC, I think today is just an off day all around because it's not been treating me too well today either. Im'ma kick today in the THROAT!! For both of us.

Magnesium question:

For those of you that take more than one form of magnesium, how much do you take of each??? I just realized that I am taking the recommended daily dose of 3 different forms. I know it's probably ok considering that those with a magnesium deficiency need more than the average joe but . . . what do you all do?
Since I'm just starting I'm only taking one pill of each type per day. That's a good question though because I've been wondering how much I should be taking on a daily basis in the long run.

Although how much I take may depend on how many of those pills I can choke down every day.

I've decided that I'll never get down to my original weight, and I'm OK with that--After all, 8 pounds 2 oz. is just not realistic.

I've pared down to only taking one of the mag malate tablets a day and I'm still struggling to get it down. I tried cutting it in half, but the sharp corners almost make it worse even though it's half the size. I wish I could get over this, it's so frustrating to stand there downing a whole glass of water and being terrified I'm going to choke on the stupid thing.

I've been trying to find a capsule to try in hopes that it may be easier to swallow, but I'm unsure which form of magnesium would be the best to get if I'm only going to take one. I looked at our local grocery yesterday that has a huge vitamin section, but the only mag capsule they had was a chelated, which I have no idea what that is. There are just so many different formulas/types it gets confusing and I don't want to waste money getting something that won't be beneficial. I ended up leaving with nothing because at the exact moment I decided to look at vitamins that aisle seemed to become THE place to be in the grocery and 5 other people showed up to crowd my space.

I do think the mag glycinate may have been causing me a little more stomach discomfort (lots and lots of gas, yeouch!) than the malate. Then again I was also incorporating the ribose and the other vitamins I ordered in as well so I'd have to try those again to see what happens to know for sure what the true culprit is.

Spring1 - have you tried getting it transdermally? I bought this: Amazon.com: Magnesium Chloride Flakes 2.2 lb (35.27 oz) Flakes by Swanson Ultra: Health & Personal Care and I put it in my bath water and I also made a lotion out of it. I mixed 1 part magnesium chips, 1 part water, 1 part Curel Ultra Healing lotion. I heat the water in the microwave so it's really hot and stir in the magnesium and once it's dissolved (mostly) I put in a squeeze bottle, add the lotion and shake to combine. Sometimes it seperates, but I just shake it and apply. I had read that it could sting if you made magnesium oil, which is just the magnesium and water, so I added the lotion because I don't want any skin issues! So far, no issues at all and I can tell the difference. Also, by adding the lotion, it doesn't leave a powdery coating on you when it dries; you really absorb it!

Do you have a morter & pestle? Try crushing the pills and dump the powder on top of a spoon of applesauce and gulp it down. That's how I get pills into my non-pill swallowing child

I would FREAK out if I couldn't have my magnesium. I feel like a magnesium addict!!!
I did buy some of the flakes back when I ordered everything, but putting it in bath water on a regular basis isn't practical for me. I did take a bath with it, but that's the first bath I had taken in at least 4 years, maybe more? So for me it's not a consistent way to get it, plus our tub is tiny and that was no fun. I also don't apply lotion on a regular basis, but I love the idea of using the flakes like that so thank you for the recipe!

The last two nights I swallowed the pill no problem so let's hope that continues! I really don't want to order something else with no idea if it will work for me or not and waste money so I'm hoping I can just buck up and figure it out.

I know I need something I can stick with consistently and that would be a daily vitamin because as sure as I don't have it my legs and feet cramp. I'm just thankful I figured out what I needed to 'fix' that problem. I told my former endocrinologist about it and she was surprised and said she had a few patients complain of leg cramps and would pass that on to them so YAY! for that!

I have been taking magnesium w/ malic acid that I get at my supermarket for about a month and taking frequent epsom salts baths and I can't say enthusiastically enough how much they have helped! I had chronic (daily) pain and now I don't. I am still a little stiff some mornings but about 90% pain free. It's miraculous!

Crimson, you have really been such a blessing to me. Thank you!

And I really do need to join that FB group...
