Default So, um, JFK raped this woman...

or not?

Mimi Beardsley. There's no way Jackie didn't know. WTH....This is on NBC right now. I think this woman convinced herself that he was some nice, fun guy who just liked to bonk her on occasion.

Man JFK should be glad there was no known HIV/AIDS back then.

What's the evidence that he raped her?

She says as a 19 year old virgin and the second time spending time with him he took her on a tour of the White House to Jackie's bedroom where he pushed her on the bed and had sex with her. She said he asked her "Are you ok?" so even though she was in "shock" she said she was ok because, you know, he's the president....and who says no to the president?

Um, that sounds pretty bad to me. She keeps saying she doesn't consider it rape. She said the only way he would have stopped is if she screamed.

I know, she was there, I wasn't. Meredith isn't buying this ish either. lol

I don't understand. Who is Meredith? It doesn't sound like rape to me.

So she says she gave oral sex to the president's best friend on his request. Then JFK asked her to do the same for recently deceased Ted Kennedy. Um.....?!

She said no that time. Wow. This isn't limited to 21st century Anthony Weiner ish.

I found this on a JFK scandal page -

Quote:
White House intern Marion "Mimi" Beardsley whose married name is Fahnestock was 19 when JFK raped her (statutory rape - the age of consent was 21 in DC at the time). A powerful older man preying on vulnerable young women is what sexual harassment is all about.
Is this the same woman or someone different?

NM I thought the woman's name was Meredith. Well...um

Well, it's common knowledge that JFK was a sleazeball. What else is new? Never did like him.

Oh come on...Sexually harassed? Maybe. Raped? No. I don't think she had to "convince" herself of much. She wrote a d*mn book about it.

Well, he did take advantage of a teenaged girl during a time when women didn't have much rights to begin with. She said she felt like she couldn't turn down the most powerful man in the world. I also remember reading that she only wrote about 48 words about the incident, I might be wrong. But she was coerced to do something she didn't want to do--regardless of whether or not she did it--isn't important. At the end of the day, that's called rape.

Well, she's had almost 50 years to think about it. She still calls it an affair.

"Once Upon a Secret" is her book, out now I believe.

Doesn't mean that she wasn't taken advantage of. I think the main reason why women don't come out with this type of info is because of victim blaming. I also have a friend who was taken advantage of by a 'friend'. She didn't want to have sex with him and he forced himself on her and she just took it. Even though she refused to call it rape, it psychologically damaged her for years and she still is torn about the situation. Maybe this woman finally feels comfortable enough to come out with this info--because rape victims rarely do.

All because it wasn't a violent crime, doesn't mean it wasn't wrong.

JFK pimped out Marilyn Monroe too...passed her around to little bro Bobby. He had very low sexual morals.

As to Rape of this woman...tough to say. She didn't say no, and I don't consider a 19 year old woman to be under age, not now, not then. Sexual Harassment, yes, I would agree with that.

What sleepymeko said. We're just really programmed to justify rape. See this:

She WAS taken advantage of, no doubt. That part isn't in question. It WAS wrong, also not in question. I just don't know if I'd call it rape.

I should add that just before he and his friend got her to drink some daiquiris.

I dunno, it sounds like rape to me. Rape doesn't mean the person has to be beaten down and cowering in a corner. But hey, I could be wrong.
