Default Jewelry sets

Every big holiday (Christmas & Valentine's Day) I look through sale ads & see jewelry sets & wonder, how many people actually have a ring, earrings, bracelet, and necklace, or any combination of two or more.

When younger I used to want my pieces to match, i.e., I have pearl earrings & a necklace, & thought it'd be nice to have a ring too, maybe even a bracelet, but then again, maybe not.

I am not a big fan of having accessories be all matchy matchy.

I think having earrings and a ring and a necklace and a bracelet is way overkill. I do sometimes like matching TWO pieces only.

I have matching earrings and necklace but I never wear them at the same time. It's either earrings OR necklace. I'm not into matching jewellery. It looks odd to me.

I voted partial. I don't mind seeing/having a couple of pieces match, but the whole set being all the same would be too much.

I like the matching sets. I never wear all of the pieces at the same time but I can mix and match which ones I wear each time.

It is/does, almost like "Look at me, I want to be a princess!", or Zsa Zsa. ETA: I mean, if all pieces are worn together, all the time. I hope nobody takes offense at this!

I've long since stopped wanting such & was just curious about what others thought.

Weren't jewelry sets at one time the proper thing to do, like having your shoes match your purse, or wearing matching lipstick & nail polish?

I don't go for matching. If I'm wearing a nice necklace, I usually wear simple earrings in the same color metal.

I have some stuff that matches and some that doesn't. I rarely buy my own jewellry - I have lots, but almost all of it was given as a gift, inherited, passed down etc. I like either/or. Sometimes I like not to match at all or to only match two pieces. Sometimes I think all matched looks cool. I have one set that was built over time. My husband gave me a ruby ring for our first anniversary, matching ruby earrings our first Christmas together, matching ruby necklace this past Christmas, and a matching ruby bracelet the Christmas during our engagement. I don't HAVE to wear them all together but it's fun to have the possibility. (They also match one of my watches.) Other pieces I have stand on their own, like the emerald earrings that my grandmama left me in her will that remind me of her and I don't like to wear them with anything else other than my everyday jewellry (wedding rings, crucifix etc.)

If I buy anything that matches, it would be a necklace and matching earrings. I don't wear a lot of rings, and I hate bracelets.

I think I only have one or two sets that the necklace and earrings match, everything else is separate pieces.

I replied separate pieces and that is what I do 98% of the time. Then I remembered my pearls. I will wear my pearl studs (or drops for dressy) with my strand of pearls. Just seems like the thing to do, I guess. Otherwise, I don't even have any exact matches!

I voted separate since that's how I usually wear pieces. I have a few sets (bracelet/necklace or earrings/bracelet or earrings/necklace) but not many. The only set I wear together is my black pearl necklace and earrings. They coordinate without being overkill. Otherwise, I just wear coordinating metals. I don't have any 3-or-more piece sets.

I have several set of matching but except the pearls don't wear them much. I have a huge collection but don't wear hardly anything except my family diamond, diamond cross (have to keep appearances up) and earrings.

It must have been my mom's influence from that era, I didn't come up with it on my own!
