I'm late to the party, but wishing your cousin a speedy recovery. Stents have become fairly routine procedures.

HC - They couldn't do the stints, he had triple bypass.
I haven't heard anything today, but visiting hours just started so my cousin (wife) hasn't called yet.

I am glad the surgery went well. And I wish him luck on his recovery. The hard part will be the life style changes.

Cousin John is doing better today. He had a rough time last night and this morning, but he's breathing better, fever is down, pain is being managed better. He's still in CCU so no one but wife and daughter can visit.
Thanks for keeping him in your thoughts and prayers.

Oh, sorry...me and my skimming again. Better that they caught it now. He's a very lucky man. Speedy recovery wishes still stand--even more so now because the recovery from this surgery will be longer than that of stent placement.
I wish there were a non or minimally invasive preventative imaging test or lab test that could evaluate the patency of the coronary arteries before it gets to this point. It's probably a moot point, though, because the insurance companies seem to take issue with preventative imaging studies...which makes no real sense. It's frustrating that echocardiography and all the other noninvasive imaging modalities are not useful for this application.
I'm sorry...but I have to do this...it's stent, not stint.

Not at all, thanks for the correction. I've been going by family posts and wondered which was correct. It is bypass though, right? Not bipass? LOL I've seen that too, but knew it didn't look right.

Fantastic! Very happy for you and your family. Triple bypass--yes, you're correct, it's "bypass"--is no walk in the park...a long recovery and speed bumps along the way are to be expected. After all, he was very sick to begin with...that's why he needed to have the bypass.

Very glad to hear this excellent news, CurliLocks. I hope the rapid heartbeat resolves quickly. There are good drugs that he might have to take for a short while to slow the heart rate but these drugs have been around a long time and are generally quite safe.
I was told a rapid heartbeat after serious surgery is often just a sign of the body dealing with the stress of the surgery. My heartbeat was rapid after my brain surgery (my heartbeat is rapid anyway) but it resolved very quickly.
I wish for the best for your cousin's husband. Please continue to give us updates.

So glad to hear things are going well with his recovery. I can't begin to imagine going through something like that! Here's hoping he's able to go home soon and be better than new soon!

I've decided that I'll never get down to my original weight, and I'm OK with that--After all, 8 pounds 2 oz. is just not realistic.

He's home!
Update - "John was getting an infection in both arms from the IVs, and now he has blood clots in each arm. But his white count is normal so they let him come home after 11 days in the hospital. He is doing good and even ate a little. Thank you all for your prayers, and encouragement and well wishes.
~ Linda and John"
Thanks for all the Ts&Ps!
