Default It is so hard to shop for good shirts...

I need to rant because I'm so frustrated with shopping for nice t-shirts. All I want is something in a nice color that fits me well but it seems as though stores avoid this. Most shirts I see are scoop neck, V-neck, backless, have to have a logo on them for something, cheesy slogans, or some form of extra bells and whistles tacked on. In the rare chance I find a decent shirt, it's hard to find something that isn't too baggy or too tight. Anyone else have these problems or am I just shopping at the wrong places?

For casual basics, I love Land's End or Land's End Canvas. I know my sizes and their styles, so I usually order online but if you want to try them on, Sears stores now carry LE. Reasonably priced and usually good quality, though some items can have too thin fabric.

for basic t-shirts, i have found that lady's foot locker has great sales, like 5 for $25 or something like that. they have different types with no logos or anything. just basic plain jane shirts. they have a variety of colors as well. But they dont always have these sales, so you have to catch them when they do.

I like my t-shirts to be on the longer side and slim-fitting.

Often, when I find the right length, they are too wide and baggy.

A lot of stores have a "basic or signature tee" and that's probably where you're going to find success.

Gap
Lands End
The Limited
Target
J Crew

I've had luck in department stores as well. INC in Macy's is one that comes to mind.

I like james perce tees they come in a lot of different shapes and cuts and they're super good quality, I also like c&c california tees because they're high quality and thin so they're great for layering. They're pricey though especially james perce so I stock up when they go on sale or I luck out and find them in Nordstrom rack.

I was just in old navy today and got like 10 shirts for $50 bucks. I had to pick carefully because some styles did look a bit thin to me.

i agree.

a lot of Old Navy's clothes tend to be on the thin side including the pants. I find that I have to treat their clothes with extra caution when washing and wearing otherwise they lose their shape faster than normal.

ITA with this post.

you might have to try an upscale department store. they usually have good quality basics that fit properly. the only setback is the price.

I like Target t-shirts, as well as H&M t-shirts! You have to search at H&M, though. Because the good t-shirts generally seem to be mixed in with the crappy ones! Which, just in general, has been my experience at that store... With all items of clothing!

Me, too, spider!

Gap favorite tees are my favorite goto tees. The quality has increased over the last few years. The ones I bought a few years ago were pretty pathetic but I decided to give them another try, and I'm glad I did. Thick, sturdy, fitted, longer length--well, I just buy talls for this purpose, and they're a little too long on my squatty torso.

Alright looking up Gap tees. 3 things I love ON for their activewear, tees, and maxi dressed. Their jeans are are frustrating you could grab the sweetheart jeans and each different wash will fit differently.

Gap t-shirts are my favorite. They last forever and the weight is good--not too thin, not too heavy. I also like that they come in lengths (online, not sure about in-store) because I am long-waisted. That said, you have to make sure you buy the right one. I buy Gap Favorite, not Gap Body. Gap Body are different.

I also like Charter Club from Macy's. Now that I think about it, I bought some plain tees from Target a few months ago for $4 each and they were pretty good too.

The key is to look for tees with no lycra. Lycra is great in many things but all it does to t-shirts is make them shrink and fit too tightly.

I may have to try the Gap. I actually went to the boys section today in TJ Max to buy a polo, it was much cheaper than the adult ones being sold and fit me fine :-) I actually found that the boys larges sometimes fit me better than women's or junior's large.

Lord help me. I went back to ON and got more BOGO shirts cuz my ma gave me "birfday" money, lol. I think my fashion statement for the summer is going to be shorts and plain tees with cute jewelry. No MAXI dresses, or only wear one only once a month. Maxis have become played out in my fashion world. Sundress Summer 2012!!!!

I like ON's kids' tees, but won't buy from the womens section because the quality is so poor anymore. I may try Gap. I have a hard time finding tees that fit me right because I like them long and lean and at the same time not too youngish.
