What do you use for Pet shampoo?
I'm looking for a new shampoo for my dog. I want it to be sulfate-free. He has food and skin allergies, very dry and sensitive skin. I was using the oatmeal one from 1800petmeds but discovered it has sulfates (duh!).
The vet recommends Avoderm but they do not list the ingredients. I called them and the rep tells me they have proprietary ingredients and can't disclose them. WTH?! (rant coming...) I told her that I do not buy ANYTHING without reading an ingredient list. She took my phone # and email and is having someone contact me. I assured them I won't disclose the list, but I need to see it before I use it on my dog. He is having WAY too many issues.
So, what do you all use for sensitive dogs?

I use store-brand baby shampoo on my dogs. They're very fluffy and soft and clean...and they smell good too.

I use Shea Moisture Moisture Retention Shampoo on my Boston Terrier. I originally bought it for myself, but it was too rich for my hair. I figured since she only gets bathed once a month or so, it would be good for her dry, itchy skin. She smells great after, and I believe its much more gentile than traditional dog shampoos, even the 'sensitive skin' formulas. I also bought her a John Paul Pet Oatmeal conditioning rinse for after the shampoo, its light and even silicone free! In the middle of the dry, cold winters here in NH, I'll add a drop or two of my hair oil (Argan or another moisturizing oil) to the conditioning rinse to help keep her comfortable.

Same here. The one I have is mango tango shampoo/conditioner in one. No sulfates and all natural. It can also be diluted 10:1, water:shampoo so it lasts forever.

I use the Earthbath Oatmeal and Aloe, they also sell a hypoallergenic one.
Do you have Petfood Express in East Bay? I bathe Millie and Gracie there and they use the Earthbath products in their baths.

Didn't think of asking them for a rec. That's where we usually go for puppy stuff! I haven't tried to bathe him there because the dryers would freak him out. When it warms up, I might, but he'd be driving home wet. The Earthbath sounds good--gentle, listed ingredients, and Made in the USA!
Thanks ladies! I'll try the Earthbath!

Earth bath is great. Especially the oatmeal one. You bathe your own dog at pet food express. I take my dog to the one in alameda if your familiar. Very nice and quite

I know I'd bathe him myself there, but I wouldn't be able to use the dryers. Or are they quiet? He doesn't like things blowing at him. LOL So if others are using dryers, he's be a nervous wreck. I'll have to check it out.
I usually just bathe him at home and dry him best I can with towels, then run him around the back yard to dry in the sun. But it's been too cold and rainy for that.

We tried the Earthbath in hypo-allergenic. It worked well. Thanks for the recommendations.
Just some FYI re: oatmeal shampoos and yeast problems, check out this article and video. As far as their shampoos (that they are promoting) I think they seem the same as Earthbath, but cost more!

My dogs don't have allergy issues. I use Suave shampoo, diluted down and add glycerin.
