Jeans/purchase/return question

I bought AE jeans online, and I took the tags off. I haven't worn them yet. I put them on, and they don't fit like the ones I tried on in the store. I typically wear a 6, but I have one pair of AE jeans that's a 4. I put these new ones, marked a 6, against the size 4 and the waist size is the same. I did wear the 4 though, so I'm not sure if they're stretched and these aren't, but when I put these up to a 6, they're significantly smaller. The receipt for these is at home (I'm at school), maybe thrown out. Think I can go to the store, buy a 6, then return these with that receipt? Because the tags are off these, they may or may not give me money back, but they're clearly their jeans. Is that just wrong of me?

ETA: Ok. So I may have lied. I pulled out another pair of stretch 6 jeans and the waist size is the same as these. The material on the ones I already had has more give. So maybe the new ones just need to be worn?

ETAA: I'm going to keep these. Feel free to discuss though.
Under construction.
I don't think it's wrong of you... you're not cheating them out of any money. I have pondered that return strategy many times... let me know if it works!

BTW, I have bought one pair of AE jeans and they stretched out MAJORLY. They actually shrink up every time I wash them but immediately stretch way out when I put them on.

I bought a t-shirt online from there, and when I got it, I immediately ripped the tags off to put it on. It was WAAYYY too small. I sent it back with the tags that I had saved taped on or something, and they credited my account, just as they would if the tags were attached.

ETA: I see my post is not relevant. But yet, AE jeans do stretch out a lot. I hate that.

I did this once with another pair of AE jeans. I ordered my size and they were HUGE, so I brought them into the store to exchange (I thought they had been mismarked), but there were no more tags (AE says they'll always take their jeans back, but I like to be nice about it) and I had washed them once to see if I could shrink them. I explained they were too big, but the salesgirl was reluctant to exchange them because the ones sold online were different than the ones in the store, and she thought I had ripped a huge hole in the knee when they actually came like that. That's the pair that's a size 4. Turns out they weren't mismarked, but I guess the way they were treated bumped the sizes off. Anyway, they did have the AE markings on them, so per their policy, she exchanged them. Without having a receipt or tags, she couldn't give me money back.

If you don't have a receipt they may be able to give you store credit since you still have the tags. You can get the exchange with the credit.

Sometimes some jeans that are the same style but different wash, etc fit differently.
