We, too own an obscene TV. Luckily we have pretty similar taste in things, and we like to make each other happy, so decorating arguements don't readily occur. I also make sure he has his own room. He can let his freak flag fly in there.

I hate big ol' tvs. My husband is lobbying for a 42 inch flat screen. I don't want it because it's just too damned big. I don't want the tv to be the focal point of the living room. Yuck!
If we had a bigger place with a bigger living room, I'd be ok with it. I think. But it would just dominate our current living room and I HATE that. I'd be happy not even having a tv in the living room or the bedroom, and just having one in the tv room/den.
I told him when this tv dies we'll get a new one. That should give me another 6 or 7 years.

I would call that clean or classic! That can look very nice.
I should say I loved all the stainless, granite, etc., look when it first came on the scene but geesh, does everyone have to have the same damned kitchen????? Also, friends with a lot of this stuff say the stainless and black is just too hard to keep shiny and clean looking, which is what I figured in the first place.
Yagotta, where does "I hate jelly" fit into your list??!!! I always love your posts . . .
And as long as her list was? Except for yellow, I pretty much hated all that stuff, too!

Yeah. I mean, I like watching tv sometimes, but I'd prefer my life/my house not revolve around the television. My husband, on the other hand, has to have the tv on all the time. I do ok with that - I can just read or otherwise block it out if I want to - but I'd prefer not to have the constant noise.
I did break him of the tv-on-in-the-bedroom habit, though. He used to go to sleep with the tv on, which did not work for me. I cannot sleep well with the tv on. So when we got married, he quit that cold turkey. Which was wonderful of him and I try to remember that when I'm being a judgemental ***** about him having the living room tv on all the time.

Sweet, 'cause that's what I like, appliance-wise.
Cabinetry is a different story. I like light to medium wood & no glass panels.
I don't know what I'd like for counter tops though.

55" here baby. It is huge. Luckily we have found a very tatseful ent. ctr. which looks like it was just made for it. We needed it for all the things that go with it - dvd/vcr/surround sound blah blah blah. We don't get out much, but we love movies - it is like have a movie theatre in the house.

Our surround sound is in the basement, all we have upstairs is the DVR and DVD player.

OH...MY..GOD...we have the same (gulp) husband
I'm trying to break mine of the "eating-meals-in-front-of-the-TV" syndrome. We didn't have a kitchen table for a long time, but I've forced one into our tiny apartment. The decision to get one was pretty much mine. Much to his and my toddler's dismay, the TV goes off during the (unfortunately) rare times we sit down and eat together.
My MIL is addicted to a TV, that's where he gets it from.

We don't have a TV at all in our living room, but we do have an immense stereo system with huge speakers. I constantly remind my BF about how much he should appreciate me for letting him put them there.
I haven't been able to open my bookcase doors for three years, or close my curtains without climbing up on a chair, because of the speakers. He's lucky I like good audio.

I don't want to give in and luckily, we won't have this problem once if he has his own room to decorate. He told me if he can't put up his scarface pics in the living room, they will be in the kitchen - equally as bad.
However, he says since I told him the hypothetical future den is for him to decorate, he says it's for him and the boys only
Whatever, as long as Tony Montana is not mismatched next to my statues and African Art!
