I have the Jack LeLanne and it's still a pain to clean. I have to use a brush on the mess part. (That's why I decided to juice once a week and freeze)
I think this is true of most centrifical juicers

My sister told me about this Mix & Match Green Smoothie List she got at a Vita-Mix demo. The variations of green smoothies are endless..........

I just juiced butternut squash, sweet potato, and apples. Then I stirred in cinnamon- delicious, although very thick.

I sometimes make green smoothies for my boyfriend (who does NOT eat veggies) and I and sometimes my son drinks it too. I add nonfat yogurt, handfuls of baby spinach, pineapples (not much, maybe a ring) and ice. I sometimes add a little oj to sweeten it and thin it out and it's thebomb.com. I have one for breakfast or sometimes as a meal replacement. You can add apples or carrots too if you want. Yummy!!!

And there is no need for a juicer. I use a regular blender.

Sadly, I broke my brand new juicer last night...only my third time using it.
WTF???
How small are the pieces of fruit and vegetables you're using???
Last night I was juicing kale, chard, apple chunks, parsnip chunks, carrot chunks, ginger slices and a few strawberries.
It was straining from the beginning and eventually started making a loud nise and shaking and then there was a mall amount of smoke and an electrical fire kind of smell.
Again WTF?
I've seen people on tv ram whole apples down those chutes. And I cut my apples into about 10 pieces each (to describe the size pieces). The carrots and parsnips were roughly the size of ice cubes from an ice cube tray.
It had been actually straining w/ the kale the previous day but thought it was bc the produce was dry.
I'm really mad. My daughter and I were enjoying drinking fresh juice.

Oh, that is terrible, spiderlashes! Will you be able to return it?
I have a Breville juicier. I cut the fruit and vegetables only if they won't fit in the chute.

I love this thread. I just made my best smoothie ever the other day with the following:
Half a banana
Two strawberries
Blueberry soy yogurt
1 cup rice milk (plan to try almond or soy next)
5 green grapes
1 handfull spinach
Crushed ice
Loved it. I tried a similar mix without the yogurt and with kale instead of spinach the day before and it had more of a vege taste. Liked it also. I had stopped making smoothies about 6 mos. ago when my blender broke, but when I saw this thread I ran out to buy a new one. So thanks for the reminder!

That really sucks! I hope you can take that thing back!!!!!
apples, I cut in quarters, carrots I leave whole, oranges in half, kale one stalk at a time (because it's weird). I do listen to see if it sounds like things are going on.

I bought it at Target and they just told me I can return it. (Why such a generous return policy for kitchen stuff but sucky one for clothing?)
So...what kinds of machines are you all using (I see one Jack LaLanne and one Breville here so far...)
The machine I have that just broke is a Bella, btw. So if anyone is looking to buy: maybe avoid that brand.

I just drank the cucumber mint. SO GOOD!!!!!!!
I had a carrot, apple, celery, parsley. I offered it to my friend. She was reluctant, but once she took a sip, she was converted. She is coming over this weekend to juice

We have a Jack LaLanne one that we've been using lately. So far carrot, kale, apple is my fave but cucumber pear ginger was a winner too. If I had more freezer room I'd look into doing more in advance but I already freeze homemade stock, beans, and veggies and such so it's close quarters in there!
I can't wait to do more combos and such!
I use the pulp in my banana flax muffins. It doesn't change the flavor of anything and just gives it more oomph!

Scrills I'm curious about the defrosting of your juice/smoothies. Do you just set it out while you get ready for work?

I haven't bought a juicer yet but being using my blender. Tonight was feeling a bit peckish but was torn between snacking on a salad or berries. So you guessed it. All in the blender they went..
Cabbage/lettuce/carrots
Blueberries
Strawberries
16oz of soya milk
Yum!

If you use milk in the juice/smoothies, Are you all using dairy milk or non-dairy milk? Does milk choice make much difference?
