I've just started making my own smoothies!

My favorite is:

Light Chocolate Silk Milk (this is a soy milk)
Banana (whole thing)
tiny amount of peanut butter if I feel like it
Ice

I make it when I first get up in the morning and then put it in the freezer while I get ready. After about 30-40 minutes it's a little thicker/creamier which is how I like it. The soy milk is very filling so sometimes this will be my breakfast for the day. Also, I've found when I use vanilla soy milk, it turns out somewhat bland.

I haven't made anything with vegetables yet. I'm afraid it will turn out horribly. Lol. Maybe I'll stick around here and try a recipe that someone else posts so that I don't screw it up the first time.

my absolute favorites, hands-down awesome smoothie:

-Almond milk
-1/2 banana
-handfuls of spinach
-vanilla protein powder
-cinnamon

You really can't go wrong. I prefer veggie smoothies over fruit smoothies any day of the week.

You should! I love it.

I want to again emphasize the small amount of peanut butter. Unless you are a peanut butter lover....anything over a teaspoon is going to be too much and it will be like drinking a liquid Reese's cup. The first time I made it the peanut butter completely overpowered everything else in the drink.

I don't know your taste buds so you'll probably just have to go through trial and error a couple of times to get it perfect for yourself anyway.

My favorite smoothie is pineapple, mango, orange juice, an ounce
of plain yogurt and crushed ice.

I also do a blackberry one, with primarily blackberries, a few strawberries, vanilla yogurt, and crushed ice.

And an orange creamsicle one with oranges, vanilla yogurt, and crushed ice.

Sometimes I add vanilla flavored whey powder in for extra protein, flax seed, or I sprinkle Honey Clusters (the ones that come in Honey Bunches of Oats...you can buy them separately) or whatever granola my parents get on top.

Mostly I'm too lazy to make my own, so I usually will go buy the "smoothie" drinks that you tend to find over in the produce section that are 100% juice, usually juice puree and no added sugar. The ones I buy are the green drinks. The one specifically I can remember the name of but not the brand is called Greenfood. Another is made by a brand called Naked and has the word "green" in it, too. It has mostly fruit and tastes like Apple, mango and banana, but depending on the brand also has broccoli, spinach, wheatgrass and other good stuff.

If I make it myself, then it tends to be 1/4 cup frozen strawberries, 1/4 cup frozen mangoes, 1/8 cup dried cherries (really good for anybody who has arthritis issues, BTW) to help a little with texture, 1/2 cup Apple juice, 2 handfuls of spinach. I add more or less liquid if needed, but it's usually good.

This area is under construction as my hair type changed and nothing works well for me. I shampoo, I condition and pretty much have done nothing but chuck my hair in a messy bun for the past oh...year? Yeah, I'm that lazy.

No...going no-poo or CG does not work for me. It leaves me overconditioned and oily in a second no matter what I use, so that's not what's not working.

I make something similar but add raw spinach to it. You can't taste the spinach at all. I use:

Unsweetened almond milk
Banana
Couple handfuls of spinach
Almond or peanut butter
LOTS of ice
(Sometimes a spoonful of unsweetened Hershey's cocoa)

Blend till smooth and pour over more ice. Yum!

I just juiced up 3 carrots, three MacIntosh apples and a slice of ginger. I was terrified of it but it's delicious.

Me, too! I borrowed my daughter's for my three day juice diet (that I started this morning). When I juice I have to put it on the counter. When I'm not using it I have to put it on my stove so I can use the counter to put wet glasses and dishes on! :-D

SMOOTHIES ~ the three I rotate with during the week:

1. Mixed berries, banana, spinach, kale, chopped dates, and vanilla almond or soy milk

2. Strawberries, pear, banana, orange, spinach

3. Spinach, celery, cucumber, apple, half a lemon, grated ginger root, agave

**As you can see I go thru a LOT of spinach during the week! I use the HealthMaster Blender.

JUICE ~ my hubby likes to juice and makes this weekly:

Carrots, tomatoes, kiwi, a half bell pepper

*** Hubby uses the Jack Lalanne Juicer

I may have to try this one! My hubby does the juicing and I typically do smoothies but this sounds yummy! I stopped juicing because I felt bad about not using the pulp afterwards....

I've been juicing veggies for years and occasionally will juice fruit.

I prefer the Kale, cucumber, and tomatoes veggie one. For the fruit one I blend in a array of about 5 types of berries.

Just wanted to remind everyone to
"Juice Responsibly" because your loading nutrients into the body at a very quick rate. Too much too fast can be poisonous.

Also, fruits contain a high amount of sugar. Don't do it a lot but learn to enjoy it as a treat every once in a while. Your body will thank you later.
