No. I am a twin so maybe that's why I didn't invent an imaginary friend.

LOL, a lot of us were overrun with enough other people as it was why would we want to make up extras?
Ha! Good point! I usually wanted less people around. Why would I create more?

I can't say it's an American thing, I grew up in Australia and I had a mouse as my imaginary friend. It had massive ears and I carried him in my hands. I even gave him to my dad once to hold who promptly dropped him on the ground.

My mouse friend looked like this:

I was the only child so I had imaginary siblings -- 9 of them. LOLOLOL I remember two of them: Jason, younger brother and D-10, older sister. But there was another who spoke Spanish and and one who had cerebral palsy...

I did have one. Not sure why since I was a happy kid with a great childhood, never lonely, never sad.
He was a tiny tiny brontosaurus (the old good looking kind, not the new improved ones with the ugly heads that they pass off for brontosauruses nowadays).
He didn't talk or anything. He wasn't like Dino. He was like a real dinosaur.
He lived in a little matchbox that I carried around everywhere with me. I don't remember his name but I can still picture him perfectly.

I used to come up with scenarios and run with them in my head, but i never had an imaginary friend! I knew kids who did, and i always saw kids portrayed as having them on tv so i tried once or twice to have one but i just felt silly.
My cousin had one named Katie who, like the imaginary friends of many others, was to blame for any misdeeds my cousin may have been accused of. Katie got her own chair at the dinner table and got buckled up for rides in the car. I used to mess with my cousin a bit though and "accidentally" sit on Katie.

Same here. I never wondered about it - Baby was just part of my life.

(Every now and then I still talk to her - not out loud or anything, but she's definitely still with me.)

I did, I had three. Loco, Liki, and Laka. I mostly remember Loco and Liki.

One of them died on the way to my grandma's house, he fell off the hood of the car.

Apparently, I said, "Oops, he fell." And never mentioned him again. Not sure what ever happened to the others, though my mom said I stopped talking about them around the time my brother was born, I was 3 1/2 when he was born.

I remember them resembling leprechauns, but I don't know that they were ever naughty, I will have to ask my mom.

Not exactly an imaginary friend, but I had always pictured the sandman to be a little mini man in white painters overalls, and he carried around a little bucket of sand to sprinkle in your eyes. His name was Harvey.

My mother tells me I had an imaginary friend named Gloria, but I don't remember her.
