This is my swimsuit for reference.

And I'm going to buy this one when I get my refund (taxes), haha.

I hear ya girly.
Last spring I bought a 1 piece from Target ($25) that pretty much fits your criteria.
It's black, and has a sort of "dress" covering from the bust down (it literally feels like a LBD!) with an attachable halter strap. No underwire, but there's a thick "belt" thing with a buckle underneath and there's wire support on the sides.
I really like it because it's cute, VERY flattering, and isn't, uh, scandalous, or whatever.

I had to buy it for a biology trip my Sr. year of highschool, and we had to have a 1 piece (because we had to wear wetsuits) and seriously, some people came in monokinis.... NOT the same thing!

The sheath (that panel thing over the crotch) looks really cute on VERY young, pin-up type women. If you put a sheath suit on anyone over 30, it looks very old-lady-ish. IMO, anyway.

Modcloth swimsuits.

They have a nice/large selection.
Yes, I think I might get one of the pinup style 2 pieces to get more lower coverage. But I find the bottoms that cover more make me look even wider and more granny than the smaller string styles. If I can find one that doesnt I would feel a lot more comfy in it.

To my knowledge, swimsuits with underwire are usually in the $100+ bracket. Her Room has a couple of underwire one-pieces on sale though: Bras, Panties, Lingerie & More - HerRoom

If you decide to spend more than $100, I suggest buying from Her Room, Bare Necessities, or Fig Leaves (or finding the brands they offer on a different site). Their underwire swimsuits are going to have high quality bras in them. A swimsuit from Victoria's Secret will just have the usual crappy VS bra.

I really like this style, but I agree with RCW and Josephine: I think you need to be young and need to have the right body type for that type of suit. It's really cute, though. I love modcloth.

And do people really buy suits online? I can't imagine buying one without trying it on. I have a hard enough time doing that with regular clothes.

I think I might go with J Crew (thanks MKcurly and HipsterSoul!). But unfortunately they don't have swimsuits in the store.

Still after a monokini, though!

I think if you have a body that needs support in certain areas, you almost have to buy online. Seems like you can only buy in stores if you have the type of body that just stands on it's own. I haven't bought a suit in a real store in many years...because they simply don't carry what I need and want. There are so many free-shipping deals right now that buying online, trying on at home, and returning is an affordable option. It's just time consuming.

I was about to order one online from VS since it was so cheap but I am not sure. I never have issues with the top but my main concern is the bottom piece due to my lovehandles. I would order a calvin klein or ralph lauren one online since I know how they generally fit but lately their styles have been boring. I want to get one so badly since I didn't buy a single one last summer but really want to drop these 10 lbs and get into shape before I get one.

Agreed. When I was young I could pop into a store where they sold separates, get a small bottom, large top, and call it a day.

Now that I've had a child, I have some loose skin on my lower stomach and decided to go with one-pieces. I have had a lot but I usually have the same problems and need more customization - the suits in stores are too long, not large enough on the bust, and just don't give me support.

I'm contemplating getting one of the high waisted bikinis on modcloth. They're adorable.

Well, I just ordered 2 swimsuits online from Old Navy (including one that looks kind of like but not exactly like the one iroc posted) and 1 from American Eagle Outfitters. Now I just sit back and wait for the packages to roll in! I hope at least one of them works out. The Old Navy ones only come in SML sizes--I ordered one S and one M in hopes one will fit--and the American Eagle one comes in only bra sizes. I mean, I'm glad the bust will fit, but is the rest of the suit one-size-fits-all?? Weird.

Here's a monokini for 40 but I think it covers too much for a monokini -

Hula Honey Swimsuit, One Piece Halter Cutout Side Tie Monokini - Womens Swim - Macy's

It's probably proportionate to the band size.
