Boot cut jeans and flat heeled shoes?

Like Tree29Likes

I wear flats with my boot cut jeans all the time. I'm 5' 2''. I don't think I look dumpy! I think it's a nice, polished look, actually.

ETA: Just to specify - I wear ballet flats.

I've decided that I'll never get down to my original weight, and I'm OK with that--After all, 8 pounds 2 oz. is just not realistic.
Just realized the one pair of jeans I own are bootcut and I wear them with whatever I feel like putting on my foot, mostly flip flops if it's warm. My feet hurt so bad so quickly I don't own many shoes because most are uncomfortable to me if I walk for any length of time.

I'm 5' tall and I wear flats and boot cut jeans all the time. I rarely wear heels other than heeled boots to work a couple of times a week.

I wear flats with bootcuts all the time only because I'm 6 feet tall. If I ever get the nerve and find an awesome heel that's hot and not too high, and a great pair of jeans, I MIGHT wear heels and jeans. Keyword: might.

It's not the best look, it can read a little frumpy especially if you're short. Wedges are very flattering with bootcut jeans and practically just as comfy as flats.

I wear a low heel. It's hard for wedges to fit into bootcut jeans or anything thick. If I'm going out at night and they are long I wear long skinny heels.
I think it just depends on how big the "boot cut" is. A lot of jeans now say boot cut but they're more like straight legs or have a slight flare.

If they're very wide at the bottom, I look short regardless of what shoes I'm wearing.

I'm also under 5' tall.

5'4" I wear flats/flip flops/sandals with boot cut, flare, straight, skinny jeans. I've never been a slave to fashion so I wear what feels good and what I think looks good on me.

ETA I've never understood why short = dumpy or unflattering. If clothes fit properly, they should be no different on a short, medium, or tall person.

A lot of taller people have characteristics like wider shoulders or short torsos and there are ways they can dress to balance their bodies out more as well. It's not that one body type is better then the other it's just a matter of dressing best for whatever body type you happen to have.

Dumpy, by definition means short and stout. Despite being petite and thin, I will look dumpy in that combo because, for whatever reason, bootcut jeans accentuate my short legs and make my hips look bigger. Wearing a boot or shoe with a heel elongates my legs. I look better proportioned.
Eh. I wear that combo pretty much every day, and I can't say I'm interested in replacing the shoes just for the sake of looking taller/more elongated. Partially because, no matter what anyone says, wedges are not comfortable for me. Also, I'm a college student - I'd get laughed out of the building if I tried to show up to class wearing a pair of wedges/heels in general. I'm already the odd one out for looking semi-presentable and not wearing yoga pants everywhere.

I guess I just don't see the issue with "looking" short. I am short. I'm ok with that. My husband's ok with that and he's 6'3! No one that I care about gives a crap that I'm short. Just because fashion dictates that tall is more attractive doesn't mean I care enough to try and look taller. *shrug*

And it's not just short people that seek balance and proportion, I dress people for a living and I've never seen a body that could wear absolutely any and everything and look good in it. No matter what body type someone has I still have to put things on them that highlights the good, down plays the bad and/or doesn't make their shape look worse then it actually looks, which clothes can do.

It is a personal preference though, for those that don't care they totally have the option not to care and likewise for those who may want to create the opposite effect i.e. make their bodies appear wider or shorter then it actually is they can totally dress in a way that gives off that illusion as well.

Also, the thing about being short is even if a short person has a bangin' body which many petite women out their do because there is less space to work with it's very easy to wear things that make them look wider and stouter then they actually are which hides how nice of a figure they actually have. Most people aren't trying to do that lol, but for anyone who is go for it. (and the same thing goes for all body types just in different ways).

But, since you're so petite slim cut trousers, skinnies and some bootleg cuts are easier to work with. I'm tall and a lot of wide leg pants also make me look frumpy they're pretty hard to pull off.

hahaha. Thanks guys. I really didn't require an explanation of body types. I understand different people look better in different things. I've been reading fashion magazines for 40 years. : )

It was a rhetorical question - i've never understood why the fashion industry considers short people to be dumpy and unfashionable. Just like I wonder why they think straight hair is better than curly hair. Just pondering.
