Ok I'm sick of it. Problems with sheets!

Is there something new about sheets and mattress pads that make them not stay on like sheets did when I was a kid? Is it about the thread count? My sheets are a wrinkly mess every morning along with the mattress cover and my husbands corner ALWAYS comes off. Need advice! It seems the elastic stretches out very easily and doesn't hold the sheets down or the sheets are just too big. I can't be the only one with this problem. Help.
It's like the sizes aren't standard anymore. I have a nice pillowtop mattress with a topper. Regular pocket sheets slip off on the corners and deep pocket sheets are too loose. Drives me crazy too!

I was born to be a pessimist. My blood type is B Negative.
Mattresses have gotten bigger and a lot of sheets manufacturers haven't caught up.
You are not alone! Ever since I got rid of my pillow top mattress pad, I've been struggling with this. (I threw it out when I thought I might have bedbugs--fortunately I did not!)

So, in my case, it appears the solution may be to buy another mattress pad! Maybe try that if you haven't already?
They sell things that you clip to the underside of the fitted sheets to help hold them on. Like a one-inch wide strip if elastic a couple inches long with a clip on each end.

As a kid my sheets always came off--now they stay on great. Maybe I've just been lucky in getting the right sizes!!
scrills likes this.

My sheets are always slipping too. It's so frustrating! I've thought of getting those clip things but haven't been able to find them in a store.

They make elastic bands with clips on the end that you can use to keep sheets in place. Places like Bed Bath and Beyond should have them.
No MAS.

I think the solution is to buy better sheets. The stuff I've bought in big box linen stores always turns out to be crap, no matter the thread count or price....sizes inconsistent, fitteds not fitting, flats too short, all of them too wide, wrinkled mess by morning, wears out quickly, etc.

I know i sound like a broken record, but Lands End has great sheets...and a great price if you shop their clearance section. My LE sheets actually stay on my bed.
I have resorted to using safety pins to fasten the fitted sheet and mattress protector on to the mattress. It's so annoying.
Fat does not make you fat. It's actually pretty important.

I don't really have a price range, though I do like egyptian cotton...soooo soft. I will pay for quality, here.

This area is under construction as my hair type changed and nothing works well for me. I shampoo, I condition and pretty much have done nothing but chuck my hair in a messy bun for the past oh...year? Yeah, I'm that lazy.

No...going no-poo or CG does not work for me. It leaves me overconditioned and oily in a second no matter what I use, so that's not what's not working.

If your flat sheet comes untucked, it's probably too short. I have had that problem with every set I've bought in linens n things or bed bath & beyond...they're all too frigging short...and they get shorter with every washing til they're practically at my waist. LE flat sheets are plenty long...enough to tuck well and still have a large bit to overlap the blanket.

The flat ones come out so wrinkled on the sides that they would be a good 2-3 inches shorter just because they wrinkle in on themselves (accordion style) where the side seams are. And where the top (head part) is, it's so wrinkled and misshapen, I have to iron it so it lays flat. It's awful!

I feel like I'm living back in my Grandma's days where you had to iron everything because that's what you did back then. My flat sheets of the ones that are not Egyptian Cotton are the only ones I do that with, but it's still a fat PITA because they're so wide that the ends get wrinkled (just from laying on the ground, not accordioning like before) by the time I'm completely finished. If I'm going to iron something, I would prefer it to be completely smooth from the ironing, dangit!

I'm totally investing in like 6 Egyptian Cotton LE sheets so I can "donate" the others to people who don't care or who will iron them. Like my mom. She'll iron them. She still iron's everything (okay, not everything, but my dad's work pants...Dockers...and the lapels of his polo shirts so they don't roll up, Church shirts...and her...well everything else I just toss in the dryer for 10 minutes to get the wrinkles out). I'm sure you can get the gist of how often my mom irons. My ironing board is used as a desk unless I'm ironing my current sheet's. Or maybe, MAYBE a pair of khaki pants for work. Basically, once in a very blue moon. I hates the iron.
