U.S. News - New Jersey tanning mom denies charges of child endangerment

I'm a bit skeptical of the story, as the woman just looks entirely.too.brown. She doesn't look real. The only people I've ever seen that dark are body builders, and I think they use self-tanner.

I used to have a neighbor who abused her skin badly with natural and artificial sun. She was as sun-browned as this woman. My kids called her "the brown lady".

I first saw the picture before reading anything, and I thought she was wearing blackface. How the hell can anyone tan like that? How many years of constantly tanning does it take?

There has to be a law about children in tanning beds, right? Not that I'm at all okay with the mother's actions, but I'm really concerned that the salon allowed it.

thanks for posting this, TNB, because i was afraid to... everyone knows how i feel about tanning.

when i saw that woman on tv this morning, i couldn't believe that she was 44, she looks that bad.

the tv piece showed the daughter, a very pale redhead.

mother claims the daughter got the sunburn by being outside on a warm day without sun protection and says she doesn't let the girl go in the tanning booth with her. she said the child was in the room while she used a stand-up booth.

and i have seen white people in Florida with skin that colour.

I thought she had on blackface too. I've seen people look "weathered" for lack of a better word, but white people look that brown? Dang.

One of the moms at my daughter's preschool tans that much. She's about 25 but looks 40, and when I saw her last night at the kids' performance, I had to make myself stop staring because she looked like she was in blackface. It was weird and distracting; it kinda gave me the creeps, to be honest. She looked SO unnatural. Her skin just isn't meant to be that dark!

LOL! It was the one saying that "she looks like poo with hair and eyes" that did it for me. The tinge of her skin isn't even in the realm of naturally-occuring. It looks so off. And it's too bad she looks so bizarre. She has a very beautiful family. I think her daughter's school was jumping at any chance to get the mother's mental state evaluated.

I dont understand the mentality of needing to be tan. I see nothing wrong with natural skin color, even if it's very white, even very white leg skin. If anyone thinks my white legs are blinding, they can kiss my lily white butt.
