Yes. It's just "Secretary".. no "the". Just telling you in case you decide to look it up and there is some other film called The Secretary.

I think I've seen it. I recall a scene with her in the stall of the bathroom.

I will have to check that movie out. I've seen it on HBO before, but didn't watch. Now, I guess I need to!

And so the twilight fan fiction inspires just as much of a crazy following as the original source material lol.

I wonder if the 50 Grey fans are mostly former twi-mums?

i don't get the Twilight fan fiction link. it's my understanding that Twilight is teenage vampire love; hardly the same thing as kinky sex between consenting adults.

I think it's more the dominant/submissive relationship; absolutely no character development, and repetitive vocabulary?

To be fair, I only read two of the Twilight books and the first 50 Shades.

Kayb, I just posted in the wrong thread. Heh.

Rou, it's straight up Twilight fic. Anastasia is Bella in pretty much every respect (virginal klutz). You have Jose, the Latin stereotype (seriously, we do not go around saying "ay dios mio"), who is thinly veiled Jacob, and Edward's equivalent in the main character who is mysterious and has an inexplicable pull on the female lead. Make them older and take away the supernatural angle, and voila, smut can be written and enjoyed without the creepy teenage angle.

People aren't just calling it Twilight because of the characters and their relationship is similar, it literally is smutty Twilight fan fiction. She just changed the names. You can probably still find it online.

I think she removed it when she got the deal or around the time when she decided to try and market the novel. Hmm....Now I wanna go hunt for it

I actually disagree. But, I liked Twilight, not exactly liking 50 Shades.

I think Twilight had much better character development, 50 has none. No relationship development. These two just have sex.

I feel that, although Bellas character is often made fun of, I can understand her attachment to the protection of Edward given her characters personality. Anna just seems naive and lame, and the typical virginal character of a smut novel.

Fan fiction meaning it is one fans opinion on a different spin of a story regarding these characters.

Saying 'she just changed the names' insinuates that it is actually a smut novel involving a derivative of these characters - which actually could only be obtained if written by the original author.

So, it may be one fans take on these characters - I however, didn't agree with this one persons opinion on the carryover of these characters.

I don't think people are really getting what people mean with fan fiction. Fanfic involves taking characters or settings from a work you are into and either expanding according to canon, changing the original events and writing fanon, or just straight up AU (alternate universe). The author will start with the established work and point out that it is fic based on said work.
This book was literally written as fanfic of Twilight. That is, before it became a book, it was posted online as a Twilight fic. When people say that's what it is, it's not about subjective views on the work or trying to diminish merit, it's that this is how it started out.

I get that part, I just think it's a slippery definition to say - only the names were changed - when clearly a lot more was being changed.

I (personally) can understand the 'fan fiction' part, but I argue the closely related character examples, even though I realize other people may see it, in their opinion.

Well, they are the characters from Twilight, with names changed and in an AU. If you feel the characters are OOC (out of character), that's really a criticism of the writer and ability to keep the characters consistent, but that doesn't mean the writer wasn't setting out to make Twilight fic.
