Sooo...a little off topic, but I'm a cranky old lady, so I get some leeway, right? I'm curious as to how this SIL convinced a doc to do a hysterectomy. I've asked because my whole reproductive system is all jacked up and nobody will do it.

This area is under construction as my hair type changed and nothing works well for me. I shampoo, I condition and pretty much have done nothing but chuck my hair in a messy bun for the past oh...year? Yeah, I'm that lazy.
No...going no-poo or CG does not work for me. It leaves me overconditioned and oily in a second no matter what I use, so that's not what's not working.

Trust me, 8 weeks is not a long time for recovery. I had mine done lapro and I took 6 weeks off from work and really needed longer. It's exhausting just sitting up and you're not supposed to drive a car for 2 weeks afterwards. The physically and psychological changes are very drastic especially for the first 6 months. You may feel better soon but it's still a major surgery to have organs removed and your inners rearranged....and I am thrilled I had mine and I have never felt so good...now!

But there is a big difference between getting surgery and having a rough time recovering but making an attempt to return to normal vs. whining and letting people wait on you (when you should be doing more yourself) and faining more pain for sympathy.
I have a feeling she'd be more like that.
Um, did I miss something...why do you have to keep doggie? Can't someone else watch him or board him for a while?

I'll just hop on a Greyhound
I'm not really sure why we have to keep the dog. I guess that's the kind of crap families do for one another.

[QUOTE=iroc;1948138] Yeah, they won't do this for me, either. And I thought to have a hysterectomy, you had to get a couple doctors to sign off, saying it would be the best thing. Maybe that was a thing of the past, though.

[QUOTE=SunshineGrrl;1948574]
I have an Aunt who was able to get it done before she was 40. I think if youre the type to frequently go to the Dr and make an issue out of it until someone does something, eventually they will.
In the meantime I just suffer.

I told my husband that his mother flight could not be May 13th (Mother's Day) or the 14th, b/c the LAST thing I want to do after doing 5 shows in 4 days then Driving 2 hours on Sunday is to see that effing dog.
Those are the days his brother wanted her to come, b/c SIL leaves in the 15th
He said that he would check with his brother. "Check" my a$$! I (Miss Bossy Pants) made him tell his brother that she COULD NOT fly those days. AND made him ask when BIL though he would be done with MIL as we cannot plan our summer vacay until we know when that damn dog is leaving.
MIL is leaving on the 15th. There isn't a return flight yet. boo,

UPDATE
We are going into week 5 of the MIL in Maryland taking care of the BIL's kids, and SIL recovering in NC at her parents, and us watching MIL's dog,
So, SIL was supposed to fly back home on Friday. Had the plane tickets and everything. But alas, her back hurt, so she she moved her flight to the end of next week.
We shall never be rid of this dog. We are doing a mini 2 day stay-cation tomorrow, staying at a Disney resort and hitting up Disney's Hollywood Studios for Star Wars weekend. But because of the dog, we have to make arrangements for a neighbor to let her out. SO now my house has to be spotless.
boo.

Ugh, changing my vacation plans to accommodate somebody else's dog is where I would draw the line. I'd be putting the dog in a kennel and MIL would be paying for it.

SIL spent 5+ weeks away, in another state...away from her young children...for a basic hysterectomy recovery?!? That's ****ed up. I can't imagine ever abandoning my children for so long.

I was thinking the same thing. I know that recovering from abdominal surgery includes walking and moving around as much as possible so using it as an excuse to skip town is just that--an excuse. 8 weeks from surgery to resuming normal activities sounds about right but 8 weeks of convalescing is extreme.

It does not sound like SIL has much to do with the kids even when not recuperating. She just sounds like someone that will always have 'something' or some reason to not have any responsibility. Blech.

Someone really needs to tell this woman about herself. I would be the one. I would tell her she's obviously mentally unstable and unfit to be a mother. She needs help. Her whole family is enabling her. I would tell her to come get her f****** dog and her kids. She needs to woman up and handle her isht.
If everyone hates me after all is said and done, so what. Your SIL needs to get a grip on reality.
