Right now the popularity of floral prints completely suits me. (As an aside- I need to get out there and actually shop to take advantage of it before it passes by). At work today a patron was wearing this high-waisted deep purple pencil skirt, with a loose floral print blouse tucked in, and a simple side ponytail. It was a beautiful look, and also on-trend and it's not often that I would put those two descriptors together.

When bohemian inspired clothing started to gain a little steam a few years back that was sweet personally too. I'm glad it's been hanging on as it means clothes that I really connect with are still available. On the flip-side, I'm glad geometric prints and the prep look of the late 90s into the early 00s isn't the big thing right now.

So is there a distinct fashion phase that you really enjoyed? What do you wish would come back around, (or maybe just come around)?

I loved the shoulder pad era. Not that I need shoulder pads, but I have wide shoulders/a broad upper back, and it was nice to just naturally have that look down.

I like florals and A line skirts.



Not a fan of really loose or unstructured. I *love* '40s styles.

I love a lot of 40s style too.

I remember when you posted about what you were contemplating wearing to your daughter's wedding, a lot of us explored the options, and then later we saw it all come together. It was very sweet, and you looked great (as per above, heh).

I think in the early 2000s I had some pretty decent clothes that were trendy and what I really liked. I had quite a few nice tops from Banana Republic. They're all really hard to describe. I think one of my favorites was a boat neck 3/4 sleeve shirt with maybe 5 buttons (decorative) going from the arm pit diagonally to the shoulder. It's hard to remember. There was also a fitted short sleeved sweater with a similar button thing. I also had some really nice short sleeve button up shirts that were a tailored fit and had cute sleeves. All this with a nice straight leg pant. That's what I wore to work in maybe 2001 or 2002.

I also like the phase with the sheer blouses and peg leg trousers that has resurfaced recently

I like the slim (not skin tight) ankle pant trend with feminine tops. I'm petite, and have a tough time with regular pants. I don't like wearing super high heels like today's long pants require, and hemming ruins drape.

I'm also liking the longer skirts that have been showing up in stores.

RCC...Is that you? You're not old enough to have kids old enough to get married. Sorry.

Late thirties; satin evening dresses, gloves. Actually, this may not suit me, but I like seeing it in films.

The seventies' less extreme styles work for me: t-shirts, button downs, slightly flared pants, less emphasis on big breasts and behinds. No to jumpsuits, though.

Right now, I'm glad that flared jeans are back. I like oxfords and slightly oversized jackets...I'm even loving the shoulder pads (nowadays the fit seems just right...I think they were overdone in the 80s). I'm also digging the long bohemian skirts. Considering the seasons are reveresed in the southern hemisphere, I've noticed many of my favourite colors seem to be everywhere (a nice autumn palette of buttery yellow, rusty orange, dark green and some lovely shades of red and blue too).

Overall, I think I suffered a lot through the 90's because shirts were too short and jeans cut too low, so I kept pulling my shirt down to cover my belly. I'm happier with fashion these days. I do like some of the grunge-inspired stuff that's making a comeback, but I approach it differently than I would have as a teenager back in the day.

I would like to have every article of clothing that Audrey Hepburn ever wore. I just loved her style.

But the best style for me is from the 70's and today - low rise slim fit bootcut jeans, men's tank tops, fitted tees, peasant blouses, boots, sandals, big bold jewelry.

I was pretty well suited about 10 years ago with wide leg low rise pants.

I like the tops now that are banded around the hips, but wider up top.

I think my favorite phase of fashion was in the early 90s when vests and hats (ala Blossom) were popular. It was a cute look for me. I wouldn't wear it if it came back, though. I always have loved the Victorian and bohemian type styles, too, though these don't work for me personally. They're really pretty, and I take little bits and pieces to add to my normal jeans and t-shirts because I can't pull off a head-to-toe look.
