Impressive! I don't think I've been to any of them, though I'd like to. They all sound amazing.

I love seeing those places on tv, but would probably not have a good time if I went to them in person. They are just so big! It would be overwhelming.
I have a hard time at the big farmers markets around here. I don't even like going to a mall!
But you guys (and the Food Network) can tell me of your adventures.

Jeepy...if you're ever in Vancouver check out the Granville market. I think its my favorite and so well laid out that it's not crazy!

yes, all the flower vendors set up there. my sister and i would go and buy all our plants there and drag them home to our 19th floor balcony garden!

there are 2 specialty cheese shops, delis from Hungary, Italy, and Poland, 3 permanent fruit and vegetable markets in addition to the local farmers who are in situ from May through October (and some of them sell xmas trees and wreaths at the outdoor stalls in December!), several bakeries (including Le Moulin de Provence where President Obama shopped on his whirlwind visit to the city after his election), 2 butchers, specialty tea shops, and restaurants to meet almost every food craving you've ever had!!!!

(yes, i obviously miss the place - a LOT!!!)

Union Square is big, but it's pretty straightforward. There's no confusion to be had. It's just a park and vendors are lined up along one part of it.
The bigger issue is how crowded it is, but then, I avoid that by going on Mondays and Wednesdays and even Fridays. Saturdays are rough. Saturdays are perfect for going to the calm, cool Sunnyside greenmarket where you don't have to get there super-early to get things like sour cherries when they're in season, or squash blossoms.

We shopped there for the flowers for my sisters wedding. I walked around in awe all day!

I sort of figured that really famous Moroccan market was going to be in there, though some say it's a hellish experience.

Marrakech? (sp?)

Crowds don't usually bother me, but this was just overwhelming. I had to leave, just too much going on.

Another really good one is in Melbourne. Victoria market maybe? We bought so much food, then just went to a park and had a picnic.....soooo good!

Yes, a lot of people say they get hassled there to buy stuff and that the experience is stressful even if the market itself is amazing.
