My allergies are kicking my butt

Its not just the itchy eyes and sneezing and hives etc. I think its making me very irritable and ridiculously tired. I never put the two together. I've often wondered why I feel like crap when I've had a good nights sleep. Maybe its the Allegra?
Oh Poison, I commiserate. Until I got allergies, I didn't fully reason how miserable it can make you feel.

Sometimes a hot shower can help - opens things up and wakes you up.

Feel better!

Best 1st day method: Super Soaker

Sometimes try roller sets - classic glamor but I prefer my curls.
Every day is a gift
I'm sitting in the allergist's office right this very minute for allergy testing, round 1. I've been getting sinus infections every 2-3 months for the past year and generally feel lousy.

All I want to do is sleep and it is soooo hard for me to get up in the morning. I'm not usually like that.
They've made me quite crabby this week. My mood isn't helped by the fact that I can't exercise right now either with all of this going on.

The usual drugs aren't touching them as well right now.

Spring tree pollen season wasn't so bad for me this year, but the grass pollen means business!

Siri types my posts for me.

Here are some none big pharma ways to help with allergies:

Don't eat grass salads; if you want salad stick to none grass greens like spinach and arugula.

Cut out all dairy. Milk, cheese, sour cream, etc.

Do use kefir but if possible use goat milk kefir. If you can make it yourself, that's the best. It's super easy to make. Many people with seasonal allergies have issues with cow's milk.

Make sure that there is enough indoor humidity, especially where you sleep.

Use a neti pot regularly but don't start if you're nose is inflamed. It would irritate it now.

You might want to try a good herbalist. We use one and it's amazing how adding one herb to your diet can change everything. Good Luck!
And the results of round 1: allergic to grass, tree and ragweed pollen, cats, guinea pigs, mold spores, dust mites (that's what I can remember). Second round is Wednesday. Thanks for the non-drug remedies. I own 3 cats and don't have the heart to try to re-home them (one is very high strung and I know she would never be able to adjust), so I'm willing to do pretty much anything to get things under control.

I totally and 100% feel your pain. I am getting the allergy shots currently. I am allergic to all grasses, molds, trees, tobacco, dogs, cats, dust mites, tree nuts, and strawberries. This time of year is HORRIBLE for me. And I get strange reactions when I am outside. A month ago, my right ear got very swollen and red and itchy. I had to go to urgent care. It was due to the pollen. Allergies are the debil!!
Still figuring out the best routine for my 3b hair!

I did Allegra/generic Allegra for years along with Nasonex spray. This year I picked up generic Zyrtec--I'm having a MUCH better allergy season! I'm always tired, but I think that comes with the "territory." Not sure if it's just that it's a new drug (to me) or if it's a better drug for me.

Allergies can absolutely make you feel awful in ways that you don't connect to the allergy symptoms right away. Sneezing and not breathing well is tiring! And if I avoided everything allergy testing said I'm allergic to, I wouldn't eat anything and would have to live in a bubble. I take Walgreens brand of Zyrtec and a nasal inhaler, and have asthma too and and take an inhaler for that. This cocktail helps, but not completely. Showers do help temporarily. Sometimes I have to cancel commitments, but not as much as when I was a kid and got hives more frequently. I've been reading about "leaky gut syndrome" and how that can cause allergies, and have started taking probiotics. Even if they don't help allergies, I have other problems they could help.

My son has bad seasonal allergies. He's on a prescription nasal spray and Zyrtec. His Ped says that the two medicines together help boost each other to work better. Does that make sense? Anyway it has done wonders for him. What we thought was ADD was actually largely seasonal allergy related. Poor thing couldn't concentrate with his head feeling that way.

Does anyone use the tip of a tablespoon of honey a day from a local honey place?

I even had a shortbread cookie from Panera bread one time that happened to be in the same case as some other pastries with almonds. They were not touching. I broke out in hives. Got to be really careful!
I'm allergic to pretty much everything outside... it's miserable, especially this time of year. I'm trying Singulair this year because I haven't had a ton of luck with OTC drugs.

One thing about the lack of energy- my brother did some reading, and found out that allergy sufferers have a difficult time getting to REM and staying in REM when they are struggling with allergies. Go figure...

Where I live we have the worst air in the country so allergies are all to common. My daughter takes Zyrtec, Flonase and Singulair. the Singulair can make a huge difference!
I use Zyrtec, Flonase and Sudafed. Also use a neti pot.
I also use a hepa filter in my bedroom, wrap the bed and pillows in allergy cases and remove the carpet if you can.

Take a shower at night to remove the allergens from your body before you go to sleep.
