Default I'm going to be working!

I got an offer for a temporary job, on a kind of per diem basis. An old client who is an accountant called me b/c he's so incredibly busy this time of year. He needs someone to come in for a couple hours a day to check their messages and book some appointments. I'd only be there for 2 hours, and it's probably going to be Monday thru Friday, and only for the next 6 weeks. They're there until late at night, so I can come in at any time of day, which means on most days I can go in after DH gets home from work.

I'm really excited about the opportunity to get out of the house for a little while each day, and to bring in a little extra money. At the same time I'm a little iffy at the idea of HAVING to go somewhere everyday, even if it is for a short while. I know it sounds silly, but I love that I don't HAVE to go anywhere, and spend most of my time at home. Plus it's been almost 3 years since I've worked!!

The nice thing is that I'm not contracted in it for any length of time. 6 weeks will go by fast, and then I'll be home all the time again

Once you start you will get use to it and will love it. The extra money will be great too. Just think 2 hours to yourself, in a way.

That sounds PERFECT 4 u! That's kinda the type of thing I wish would come my way. I've been looking for p/t work but w/ my little one & then middle dd going to school from just 11:30 - 3, it really limits my hours. Plus dh is gone, Mon., wed. nights & the other nights he usually takes the 2 older ones to karate. When would I ever be w/ my whole family? Ugh!

It's so cool that you can just go in for a couple of hours I'm happy 4 u!

I know, I was just discussing that with my husband. He works tons of hours, and is rarely home, and in the process of figuring out HIS future while I'm making sacrifices to stay at home. And my entire life is just on hold, probably until all our kids are in school (whenever we decide we're done) at which point I'll probably have to go back to school so I can do SOMETHING.

I imagine it'll all come together by the time they're in high school. :P

I think it's great!
I hear ya on the life on hold thing.
I was tellin' hubby the other day that men just keep going up the ladder while women tend to get stalled b/c of the kid thing.
I need that for myself as well, but I feel like I'm starting over again even tho I haven't been gone from the real world of work that long...grrr
It really sucks, but if one has kiddos that's the sacrifice I believe it takes.:dunno:

But I digress...

Oh, Wile, I don't know about that. Sure, your life is on hold now, but I figure if I take a class or two, I can leapfrog past where my husband is in the work world, because he's still mired by all of the office politics crap. And, because he spends all day away from the kids, he doesn't want to spend the valuable evening/weekend time away from them taking those same classes.

Well now I feel like a total ass. When he called to offer me the job, both B and I had JUST come down with a really bad cold. I told him I would TRY to drop in on Saturday so they could show me the ropes, but Saturday we both still had fevers. So I called him and told him I'd come in on Monday. Well today is Monday and my cold has gone completely into my lungs. I have bronchial asthma, which means that I don't wheeze, but I continuously cough and cough b/c my bronchials are constricted and I can't get any air in.

I've been going through this since I was a kid and it's horrible. I'm having to use a nebulizer every 4 hours, and when I do it totally knocks out my system for a bit and I'm completely useless. I just called dh and asked him if he could take a half day b/c I can't take care of B by myself right now.

I feel SO bad that I have to put him off again. Perfect timing.
