My uncle has skin cancer. T's & P's!
Last year, my uncle was diagnosed with melanoma. The doctor told him things looked good because it was caught early.
Fast forward to the pass few monthes. He is detoriating fast. its passed to his thyroid and the doctor feels it may be in his liver. he has become jaudiced. he has an appointment this week for find out. My dad and I dropped by to see him yesterday to give him some crabcakes I had made. I just saw him a couple weeks, since then his hair has fallen out, he has lossed noticible ammounts of weight, and he is so lathargic.
We fear he wouldn't make to the fall. We just want him to not have to have prolonged suffering. this is tough for us because it reminds the family of the suffering my poppop went throughfrom stomach cancer in 1991. It was the worse thing to watch by giant, strong grandpa get to the point my grandmother could carry him. i never wanted to watch another loved one die from this disease, but here we go! And it sucks!

Ts and Ps to you and your family. I have a friend in the hospital dying of melanoma right now. It's heartbreaking. May you all find peace.

The men in my family are so stubborn! My uncle decided to go outside to help a neighbor. The meds he is taken has on the label that sun light should be avioded. He still goes out to help the neighbor. He was outside for a few mintues before she demands he goes in the house. That was all he needed to get blisters. My sister told me his arms, hands, and face is covered in blisters. My grandmother wants to kill him!

When my dad was going through Chemo he was very sensitive to the sun. He had to wear sunscreen all the time or he would blister. 2 years later and his once very olive skin has to be covered all the time.
As an aside my friend with melanoma has really inspired me to take better care of my skin. I have olive skin, tan very easily, and have always laid out. No more. Never again. Sunscreen and shade for this lady from here on out.
My fat thumb will make mistakes.

I'm so glad you learned from this jess. My two aunts still tan on a regular and one of then have had a tanning bed for over 20 years. She has more wrinkles then my gandma! They both has had skin cancer, but not as bad as my uncle. My grandma is hurting bad. She has outlived 2 kids and my pop pop. My uncle is pretty much making final arrangments and my grandma is so angry at him for seemingly giving up.
my grandma bought my uncle a case of sunblock. My sister told me everyone laughed when they saw it. My uncle joked that he wouldn't live long enought to use it all. That's my family joking about their own demise. But it was good to hear my uncle was laughing and joking and just having a good time with the family.

my uncle is making his final preperations and getting his affairs in order. He needs a walker to walk and can't eat. His kids thought it was a good idea to take him out to dinner. He didn't want to tell his kids but told my dad he didn't want to go and would rather stay home. He skipped taking his pain meds so he could stay awake. My dad and grandma is a little angry with his kids. They only come around when they want something. I understand they want to do something nice for their dad, but taking a person out to dinner who can't eat and barely walk is not the best imo.
My dad is planning to go see him and alone and talk to him. Whn he first diagnoised 2 years ago he told my dad he was afraid and they had a talk or religion and such. My dad once to talk to him again to make sure he is no longer afraid and ready mentally. My dad is the only who my uncle will talk to about spiritual things.
I know my dad is hurting because this is his second brother who is was best friends with who has passed. My uncle sean passed over 20 years ago and it still hurts, now my uncle mike is going. This is the only siblin my dad speaks to at least once a week.
This is hard for my grandma because she has outlived 2 kids already. She got emotional and told us she shouldn't be outliving her kids. She has just had her leg amputated and was recovering nicely. Once we got the news of my uncle she got an infection in her leg. Before the doctor was sure she would be ready for a prosthetic by summer. Now he is not so sure.

Hey Thelio. I know this is very hard on your and your dad and I can relate. My father and I have lost a lot of family and friends to cancer in the past few year. It's hard. We're here for you though. You all are in my thoughts.
