These dreams go on when I close my eyes...

over the weekend, i dreamt that i was marrying Peter Strauss. for the young'uns, we're talking about an actor who was in just about every blockbuster mini-series on tv - back when the mini-series was king!!!

so here's my Peter Strauss story: when they were filming Kane & Abel in Toronto back in 1984, i was on my way to work one morning and the streetcar stopped on King Street right outside St. James Cathedral. the movie trucks were lined up along the side of the road and Peter Strauss stepped out of one of the trucks to go to the set. i guess i must have been staring (the man is gorgeous - and 30 years ago... *swoon*), because he caught my eye and winked at me! i must have turned a zillion shades of red and looked away quickly.

I had the strangest dreams yesterday... I was attending a wedding for 2 of my friends, but had no idea who.

I traveled to another state, with several others, and the festivities began. We stayed in the brides parents mansion. It had beautiful newer rooms, strange rms full of collectables & hidden passages, a haunted barn, and awful guest quarters. This is where Hangover type craziness ensued...

The groom (I still don't know who he was) ended up picking a horrid venue after the original fell through, at the last moment. It used to be a popular oceanfront location but now had graffiti on the floor that said, "this place sux's".

The groomsmen decorated pillars with paper doilies, and the sky opened up. Horrible thunderstorms, and hundreds of soaked guests. I turned to see J-Lo, in a beautiful wedding dress, having a melt down. She fought with the groom, and insisted on changing dresses to match the venue. She returned in a lower key, wearing a fugly wood and floral head dress quickly fashioned by Jin from Lost. As she was starting her rain soaked walk, I woke up.

I'm still cringing over that stupid head dress, though I had a feeling the vows were going to be touching.

a nightmare woke me about 10 after 4 this morning - i don't remember much about it except i was wearing a hideous short teal satin dress and high heels...

last night, i dreamt that my house was literally crumbling beneath me. except it wasn't my house because a) i don't live with my mother and sister and b) i certainly don't have terracotta tile floors in my bedroom!

the terracotta was flaking and getting worse and i moved one of the tiles out of the way and i could see into my basement where these workers were telling me that the floor joists were rotting and couldn't support the weight of everything. when i went looking for my mom and sister to tell them we had to move, the house was this weird, rambling on and on bungalow...

*sheesh*

Since no musical numbers broke out or anything (this has seriously happened), I didn't bother remembering the rest of the dream, but this was what made me scratch my head a bit when I woke up. Funny when you consider that my dream self found this detail utterly mundane - like, when is not!Saria not hanging out at my kitchen table? Why would I notice this when there's important nonsense to attend to?

Has anyone else ever had serial dreams? Like recurring dreams, except they're a continuation of the story rather than picking up again from the beginning. Now I just have random details from other dreams come back, doing this weird pseudo-continuity thing, like when an essay I wrote in one dream was in the folder full of documents being returned to me in another, with this just being a throw-away detail in an otherwise unrelated series of events. Back when I was a kid, though, I remember having a series of a few dreams where I was on an epic adventure somewhat based on The Great Mouse Detective (which I now want to watch) and really hoping I'd get to the end of the story, but alas, my subconscious is a tease.

I also recall having a great deal of dreams when I was elementary school aged that acted like they were from an episodic series: I was an adventurer with the same band of merry men* every time, but I was never in the same place and none of the dreams followed up on each other. Like when I was going ahead of the group in a treacherous cave and fell off a cliff and gasped instead of screaming, and it echoed all around and my followers heard it and were worried and impressed by how awesome I was for not screaming...and instead, like, just knowing the cave would magically amplify my gasp? Because screams are for sissies in Dreamland, except when you want to be heard, and then screams are awesome but you are incapable of making them happen. Anyway, the next adventurer dream made no attempt to explain how I lived through that.

* - except for one dream that was basically a crossover episode for my adventurer dreams and the cartoon The Tick. Not even joking. I didn't even watch that show more than a couple of times and it really wasn't my thing, but there I was, in their animated city instead of my usual jungle of doom, doing something awesome and sacrificing myself for the good of man...and weird tick man...kind. Everyone solemnly praised my bravery as I lay unconscious in the Tick's arms, and then he gave me guava juice to revive me, and this was all serious business. I don't even...what. Did my childhood subconscious not have the budget to step into any superhero show but the one about a dude with antennae? We couldn't get Batman? Batman's a BAMF.
OMG, LOOK!!

Wow, last night was like the Night of the Internet People. Or this morning, I guess, since this was the dream I woke up from. This time, I was in somebody's apartment and we were having a party that wasn't explicitly an NC meetup but I think that was what it was, since there were so many of us there and we would occasionally greet each other by asking each other's usernames. Most of us had clearly already gotten to know each other in person, though. Nobody looked like themselves, and Saria didn't look like that other version of herself, but I still knew who everyone was, except for when I asked somebody I'd been talking to for her username, and I heard "miss *mumblemumble*" and couldn't catch the last part even when I asked her to repeat it. This Saria didn't like being told she has dimples and apparently we all knew that so we were teasing her about it. ??? I spent most of my time talking with this one group that I believe was made up of Spring, CE, Saria and a couple of others that I already can't figure out. Then Nostalgia Chick showed up with Nella, though, and that was way more exciting. I had apparently already met and hung out with Nostalgia Chick plenty of times, but I had either not met Nella before or hadn't seen her in a long time, because when I saw her, I was like "NELLA!!!" and ran over to hug her. She was just as happy to see me, so maybe I was good friends with Nostalgia Chick and Nella in my dream, to which I say: please be prophetic. They always seem so fun to be around.

I couldn't forget them if I wanted, for more than one reason.

no serial dreams, but i had a recurring one about running down stairs and then falling endlessly when i hit the bottom stair for many years. i haven't had that one in a LONG time!

another nightmare woke me this morning, but this one i don't remember because i rolled out of bed at 6:30 am. only when i looked at the clock in my bedroom, it said 8:30 am and i had to be at work in 15 minutes!!!!

fortunately, the light outside didn't look right and i ran to the living room and switched on the tv only to find CanadaAM just starting....

and i got to work late anyway because i missed EVERY bus that could have got me here on time and i walked in - the long way....

I had the best dream last night! It was more of a memory. In elementary school we were often visited by storytellers. I adored those women because I have a deep appreciation for people who can tell a great story. It seems to be a dying art. Anywho, my favorite storyteller was a woman who came dressed in traditional clothing, to this area. She wore a long skirt with an apron over (my great grandma wore an apron every where she went so they always make me sentimental) it, a loose cotton blouse tucked in, brown flat lace up shoes, and she always had the most colorful and beautiful head wraps. She brought her own rocking chair and she would always rock for a minute or two before she started her story. Last night she told a great one about a little girl and a weeping willow tree. She made a great deal of eye contact with me, like she used to do, because I was always sitting up front with my eyes as big as saucers and a huge smile. I had chills when I woke up. That has to be one of the most wonderful dreams I've ever had.

Worn out iPhone. Need I say more?

I had the most bizarre dream last night but can only remember a small piece of it. In the dream I was standing at the bottom of our driveway, and Jeep was there! I was trying to explain to her that her house was actually on the other side of the woods behind my house. "Yes, Jeep, I know you live in Pennsylvania and I live in Virginia. Yes, I know that if you actually walked through the woods, your house would not be there. But if you could see it from an aerial view, you'd realize it's right there! I just discovered it yesterday!"

So, we got in my car - a huuuuuge hoopty car from the 60's or something, really long with fins and newly restored with a shiny, bright orange and white paint job and lots of chrome (in real life I drive a plain white RAV4, haha) - and drove to the far end of the street and came racing toward my house. Just before we reached the hill (there is no hill there in real life), the car became airborne. Because, you know, it morphed into a car-plane. We flew over the treetops and past the woods behind my house, and yep, there was Jeep's house.

I know there was more to the dream, but that's all I can remember. I think I woke myself up a little at that point because I was thinking "Hey, Jeep is in my dream! I wonder if any other curlies will come!"

Yay! Bwavy came to visit me!!!

Last night I dreamed that I went out in the front yard and found a whole bunch of cell phones, all turned on, in the neighbor's yard. I left them there but then I found a bunch of things that belong to a friend of mine and scooped them up and took them to work with me. I was running late so I was trying to wash my hair in the little sink in our office but my boss kept interrupting me. And I had to use baby shampoo which made my hair feel tangled and weird (I never use shampoo in real life). That was it.

If it happens again, just toss the cell phones over into my yard and I'll make Mr B-wavy deal with them. hee

Fifi, I just love your storyteller dream.
