I broke my ring finger yesterday at some point so they're both the same length now. I forgot moisturizer and strengthener so I'm now using SH hard as nails and SH cuticle oil. Only options at the safeway here.

I think that's going to be part of the nail journey here. With so many of us battling peeling, etc, there are going to be breaks and necessary trims until we reach the healthy part of the nails. So frustrating, I know!

Agreed. It wont all be progress. I guess that's why I was so disappointed the other night when I shaved more off the top of my thumbnail. But even if I just get better nailcare habits I'll be happy.

I've read it takes an average of six months to grow a new fingernail. Think of it as transitioning, but nails instead of hair.

I've heard that, too. I started using the Citra by Nailtek treatment in January, so I should be getting close to healthy nails, right? ( or, I hope!)

I'm posting my pic a day early since I'll be traveling tomorrow and won't be able to do so.
For reference, here's last week's:
And this week's:

i added a second coat of the nail tek. it's pretty thick. i hate to waste but...i also got my nail aid goodies today so i'm not sure if i'll be using the nail tek anymore. maybe one more week. i actually like not having color on my nails so i can see if they look rigidy or not. i'll put a coat of the sally hansen vitamin e oil tonight even though i know it probably doesn't go through the polish.

Some other tips I read; nail treatments that go on like polish still contain too many chemicals, and are like putting on clear nail polish with a few added vitamins.
I read that saltwater strengthens nails, and olive oil does too.
Today I took off my strengthener polish and soaked my nails in warm saltwater, then soaked them in warm olive oil.
I too like the cuticle cream that RCC mentioned.

I found the ocean to be hard on the nails. Go figure.
For treatments, I guess it depends. Formulations have been getting cleaned up in the last few years. I guess we'll see in this thread.
LML, my order should be here around the 15th. I ordered the peel repair too. I figured you'd go for the one for ridges.

i just looked and it seems the nail tek isn't 3 free. it seems they might have formaldehyde in it because there's a formaldehyde free polish by the company. hmm. well that's it. i'm switching to the nail aid

So I've seen some growth this week but I'm still peeling and the SH Miracle Cure is yellowing my nails. I like the Seacret oil though a lot. This week I'll be using Qtica nail growth treatment and adding in a new oil from the Body Shop.
My fat thumb will make mistakes.

My left hand nails this week.
My right hand
the nail on my right middle finger that got shut in my dresser
my right hand today after filing the broken nail down.
I did notice my nails were stronger this week, their not peeling! I will note that I had blood work done last week and this week my Doctor has upped my potassium intake and Iron, they were very low. So I had to change up my multivitamin and I am having to sprinkle this potassium powder stuff on applesauce 2 times a day for now until my blood work show it is back to normal. It might be my Asthma meds because my potassium has dropped before in the past. I am a vegetarian but he did not feel that it was the cause. He said I might notice a change in my hair and nails with being on a stronger vitamin than I was taking before so I guess that's good news for my nails!

Looks like most of us are seeing some growth
Other than having to trim my left index nail due to a nasty peel, so far, so good. After some google searching, I've started using the four sided buffing block to work on the peeling. We'll see if that helps.
First a pic from last week, then this week's pic:
I will say that my cuticles are looking better, thanks to all the oil I am using. AND, I'm holding on the iroc's kind compliment last week that my nailbeds looked good. It's nice to know that something is good, and doesn't need to be covered up by colored polish. so, thanks, iroc!

I know this is a nail growth challenge, but personally I'm focusing on quality, not length. Reaching some crazy length would be fun, especially since I'll soon need to keep them fairly short for work. But what I really want is for my sidewalls to stop splitting off into little slivers. And I'd also like to get good at neatly applying polish. I know how to handle makeup, skincare, hair removal, and of course haircare. Nailcare is my final frontier of personal grooming.
Since it takes about 6 months for nails to grow out completely, I'm in favor of making this a 6 month challenge Would anyone else want to keep going with this thread after the two months are up, or maybe start a spinoff?
