The lady who does my hair keeps her own book, and her personal cell doubles as a work phone. They do have a computer in the salon but mostly use it for detailed information about the clients hair.

After the reviews I read about this place, I have the feeling they wouldn't have troubled themselves even if they could have reached us.

You know, I don't think I'm going to be able to stand going back to this place.

I really don't understand them. The owner gives great haircuts --- truly --- but he runs his business so poorly, it defeats his success. Having my own (albeit small) business, I bend over backwards for my clients, in order to earn loyalty, satisfaction, and referrals. If someone needs a rush job at 11 p.m. on a weekend, I do it (and if they've paid me rather lavishly in the past, I don't charge extra, either). If I was leaving for a vacation and had let people down, I would do something about it.

It's frustrating. I want to take advantage of this guy's excellence, but he and his staff are so......indifferent, if not rude, I just can't do it. I'm very disappointed.

^ Go with your gut. I should have listened to myself, many times, and walked away from my old salon.

The guy who used to do my hair changed cell phone numbers and salons, often, without telling his clients. He had no real interest in the job or his clients. He eventually butchered my hair

I'll be calling a new salon I've researched bright and early Tuesday morning (when they open).

Thanks for the back up.

My stylist is the shop owner and she keeps a manual book. Salon is small 2-4 stylists and it's all pencil and paper.

I cancelled. I'm too reliable to have stood him up in revenge. I'll just disappear, he'll lose another client and gain more bad word of mouth, and he probably won't notice or care. So it goes with poor customer service.

Anyhoo......I have an appointment tomorrow with a new guy who got very good reviews from several sources, aaaaaannnndddddd, when I looked him up on-line, I found a half-off coupon for my first appointment, too.

We shall see how all works out, but I do feel relieved at resolving the dilemma with

I'm nervous, cp. Naturally, my hair has looked good the past two days, after being horrid for about a week.

But, thank you!

Is it wrong that I also think that once you get that killed haircut you should 'accidentally run into' you old stylist? . (Okay, I would never actually suggest it or do it myself but...)

I really hope you get a great cut at the new place, and I applaud you for trying someone new, but if the cut isn't great, you can always go back to salon "Who Cares About You" to get it fixed. No shame if it comes to that - our curls are merciless. They grind slowly but they grind exceedingly fine (or coarse, depending).

I wrote a reply last night but then the system acted up......were there problems on NC?

Anyway, as much as I love an evil plan like any good villain, I doubt he'd even:

a) notice;

b) remember me;

c) care that he lost yet another client.

Oh, that's par for the course! My hair is always a wreck until I make the call for an appt. Then it's beautiful the next week, mocking me!

Sending good haircut vibes your way! We'll be waiting for details and pics later.

And I forgot to answer the original question! My last stylist (still current when I can reach her?) uses her phone for appts. The new one I just tried keeps appts in a book, maybe she backs it up onto a computer calendar.

Good, if not great, customer service is a MUST! I won't tolerate a nasty attitude or poor service, even for a great cut. I've walked before.

But I'm wondering about your salon's power being out, how would they have operated without power anyway? Or was it that they lost computer power only, or lost the appts? I'm a bit confused about that part. I wouldn't want someone cutting my hair without proper lighting.

No --- they shut down completely, and said they couldn't reach anyone to cancel because all their appts. on kept on the company computer.

I completely understand, two wrongs don't make a right, right? But it us so frustrating that it would not even phase him, being that he's such a j&rk.

I'm sorry you are not thrilled with the new stylist.
