Wow. The boy was bringing the trash can in and he shot him in front of his own mother.
Comments: "Black kid killing... [must be a new sport]."
It has been for the last couple hundred years.

At least the guy was arrested and charged immediately. Good thing this didn't happen in Florida.

White people are robbed, severely beaten and killed every day by blacks just because they're white. Black people are killed every day by other blacks. Both of these have a MUCH higher rate of incidence than whites killing blacks ALLEGEDLY because they were black (ie Zimmerman/Martin). The latter is extraordinarily rare.
You can't really get angry with what I said, because it is 100% true. I don't feel comfortable with the perpetuation of the idea that there are a bunch white skinned "black hunters" out there. It is a very dangerous manipulative tool used by certain politicians these days to garner votes and self-aggrandize and it is a sin.

How awful! I found this article from the Milwaukee newspaper, with more info. So the family moves in and in less than a month the kid is pegged as a burglar?
Even if the kid did rob him, is it worth shooting him in cold blood a week later? Our house was broken into in February and, while I would love for the culprits to be caught and punished, killing them would never enter my mind. Jeez, it's just stuff.

Why is the concept of "white privlege" a viable excuse for blacks committing these crimes against whites.
I do believe, however, that the excessive reporting of certain incidents leads to copycat incidents. The Zimmerman thing probably led to white on black incidents, the school shootings are always followed by more school shootings in a short period of time, and now the zombie-esque cannibalistic behavior is seen all over.

I have to be honest.. even as a person of color I just feel like suggesting with no real evidence that this man killed this boy because he's black was off putting to me as well when I read this thread. And I really didn't see anything in the link to indicate the man shot the boy simply because he was black.
Is there some confession or clear evidence that proves he shot the boy because he was black ?

I think if the child was white, he would not have shot him. I think there is a lesser value on blacks, therefore he was quicker on the draw.

1. recognizing social inequalities doesn't make one a victim. In case you did not know, I'm black, and I'm doing just fine, even with this knowledge.
2. aren't you in a constant state of victim-hood?.

The story was only a few lines so I know there's lots of information missing. Bottom line, a child doing a good deed was shot. Maybe because he was black, maybe because the man was paranoid, but probably a little of both. So sad. Not every stranger that walks past your house is up to no good.
Sad. 
ETA: I posted before I read MrsP's link. Pretty clear that the man thought the child had stolen his guns and shot him in cold blood.
