Sorry for all the exclamation points- I need to get this done ASAP. I'm a speech pathologist, applying for a position as a program director. I have the requisite administrative experience but my resume is very clinical. Should I make it less so? How?

Also, in searching for resume samples, I am seeing some things that are new to me, such as listing "core competencies". I hate buzzwords, but is doing something like this important? Currently, I have my skills listed under"professional experience" with the subtitles "clinical" and "supervisory".

This position is very local and comes with a salary that is significantly more than preschool therapists make in this area, so it is important to me. It is posting tomorrow, but I was given the description today. I would like to update everything tonight and send it in the morning before I go to work.

Do another post with "SPEECH PATHOLOGIST help please" in the title. There are speech paths on this forum and they can probably help you best. You could pm them your resume and they may have the experience to help you.

Best of luck!!!

Sometimes try roller sets - classic glamor but I prefer my curls.

This isn's a speech job though. I'm probably overqualified, but it pays 18k more than my current position. How do I edit the thread title?
Oh, I see. Well, then, your thread title is perfect.

Here's a suggestion. Make the first sentence very clear. something like: Help me please with my resume: I'm a SPEECH PATHOLOGIST applying for position as PROGRAM DIRECTOR.

Then you can apologize for the caps, the exclamation points etc. and go into the details. As the post is written now, the first sentence is an apology and an explanation about why it is urgent. I'm all for politeness (please believe that) but I think it is a little confusing.

Anyway, your post may be completely clear to everyone else and the only reason it hasn't been answered yet is that people haven't gotten around to it yet. Keep bumping the thread and I will too.

I would highlight areas where you acted as a supervisor or director in your cover letter (or anything that is specific to the job description you received)

My CV has a section for professional experience where I list my clinical employment and then I have "additional professional activities" where I list my other employment experience, which is primarily teaching/education. I hope this helps somewhat. Sorry I don't have more advice. But I figure that a SLP applying for a different position is somewhat similar to when I apply for something outside of my specific title/certification?...

Thanks Goldy. I flipped the clinical and administrative experience sections so that administrative was first and I moved the skills that could go either way into the administrative section. I did highlight all of that in my cover letter as well.

The interim director emailed me back and said I was the first applicant and he looks forward to meeting with me! Wish me luck!
They say being one of the first applicants really helps, so I wish you luck

I got an email today to set up an interview for tomorrow evening! I'm so freakin excited- it seems like it would be just enough of a career track change for me, and the earning potential is significantly more. Wish me luck again, please!

Of course now I have to figure out what to wear... this is definitely not a suit interview but I'd prefer to be overdressed. The people I meet with will likely be in jeans, maybe khakis. I have this dress

in black but I need shoes (as well as hope that my hair won't be a disaster).
Best of luck, CosmicFly. Remember that they need you just as much (or more) than you need them. We're cheering you on!!!
