aha!

i have a HUGE empty picture frame - no glass - that i picked up at Goodwill a couple of years ago for $5. it's not a standard size so i've never put anything in it. all i've done is lacquer it in black.

time to re-purpose the poor thing

Saw a really neat one on Pinterest that had twine strung across in maybe 5 places, then pictures hung with clothes pegs. I'll try and find it again!

Quite a few years ago, I bought folding desktop frames at the dollar store and fitted them with plastic canvas and gave them to my daughters and my SIL for Christmas with a couple of pairs of earrings I made hanging on them. They all still have them either on their make-up tables, or on their dressers. If you wanted to dress it up, cover the plastic canvas in LACE.

I can't visualize this, but I think I like the sound of it. Pic?

I gave them all away (my daughters' with pierced ears have moved out) and don't have pics. Take the glass and all backing out of the frame and cut plastic canvas to fit. Pop it in and secure with staples. You hang earrings in the holes of the plastic canvas. I did white canvas in white frames and black canvas in black frames. Every time I visit my SIL and see hers, I wish I had made me one too! And now I may! I will post a photo if I do!

Is this the idea? I like your canvas better though.

Yes! That's cool too! What is it? Radiator cover is what comes to mind. I used folding frames that would hold 2 photos and open and close like a book with hinges so that the frame stands up on a flat surface. If you hung it on the wall, that would limit your ability to use it for stud earrings unless you take it down every time.
