For clarity sake, I should point out that the actual petition doesn't say anything about SixFlags's policy being racially based. From what I see, the discussion of race is part of this discussion here on the NC.com forum and not part of her official petition.
Below is the full text of the petition this girl is asking people to sign:
"Stop discriminating against people with dreadlocks
Greetings,
I am disappointed to hear that Six Flags discriminates against potential employees with dreadlocks. Far from an “extreme” hairstyle, dreadlocks (or "locks") are a natural way of wearing hair for huge numbers of people.
I find it disparaging that Six Flags would accept large amounts of money each year from patrons with locks -- and all kinds of natural hairstyles -- but would refuse to allow them to work at your theme parks no matter what their qualifications.
There is no excuse in 2012 for such abhorrent employment policies. I am calling on Six Flags to stop discriminating against people because of their hairstyle and texture. Please remove locks from your list of prohibited hairstyles. Summer is the prime season for Six Flags, but if your company doesn’t do the right thing, I may need to avoid your parks this year.
Sincerely,
[Your name]"
I definitely signed. How a person (black, white, or anything else) wears their hair just isn't a problem for me as a paying customer at a theme park, so I was happy to sign to help SixFlag reconsider their policy.
Of course, it's up to each individual to decide to sign or not.
Peace.

And my post was in regards to those saying it may be racially discriminatory. I personally don't think it is. And of course it's up to each individual to sign or not. That's obvious.
Peace.

?? Can't imagine how feeling good about agreement and finding common ground is "having issues", but...oh well! :-)
Peace.

It's the "peace" thing that made me think you were being a little rude. It sounds a little dismissive to me. Perhaps it's your siggy. Don't know; I'm on my phone. If it is, I apologize. If it's not, I think you were being dismissive and therefore have issues.
Oh, and, yep oh well. :-)

For me, "peace" is a good thing, not something rude or dismissive, so I'm happy to use the word. Peace! ;-D

nc.com: likely the only place on earth where wishing people "peace" will really piss someone off.
Honest Devushka, I don't know what you were thinking!

i signed the petition yesterday (before seeing this thread) and left a note. i have 2 jobs (a full time corporate job and a part time fitness instructor) and i got both jobs with locs. i've excelled in both, cut my locs, wore loose natural hair and now have sisterlocks (basically very small locs). bottom line...my hair has not impacted my ability to do my job one iota! people should be able to wear their hair naturally and a person who has kinky, course, afro textured hair often benefits from loc'ing their hair because it allows the hair to grow long without breakage from constant manipulation and/or combing.

I don't get pissed reading comments on the web. But if I perceive you being rude I'll respond. That is all.
