*UPDATED WEDDING PHOTOS ADDED* I need a dress for a wedding!
Help!
One of my best friends is getting married and I need help finding a dress. I've got a bit of time - its at the end of July, but I have seen nothing!
I bought a dress home today and my mother immediately turned her nose up at it - so I guess that's going back.
I'd like something light and flowy but all I see are these thick satin body tight dresses which aren't really great for high summer or my body shape I don't think. No maxi dresses - I'm not tall enough. The real problem is finding something that fits over my chest and flatters my top heavy shape (hiding the belly) and a colour that suits me.
I cant think about shoes yet. If I start thinking about shoes I go cold all over 0_0
So - any suggestions of where would be a good place to shop? Or picture ideas? I know you guys are great at this sort of stuff.

I think you'd look great in a pretty, simple, knee-length empire waisted dress.
I'm not saying this dress, since I think it should be prettier, but something similar to this:

Or like this, but with a bit different since I know you find your chest is too exposed with this sort of cut:

H&M has lots of nice dresses this year; have you seen them?

This is the dress I bought today, except I got it for half price.
Coast Stores - Dresses - NADINA DRESS
The colour isn't as dark as the photo shows its slightly more pinky/purple.

I think the dress you bought is very pretty!
The only thing is that the color seems a bit unseasonal, but it's not as if people pay that much mind to that anymore considering how many people wear black to weddings.

You might be right. I should definitely try some fitted ones. I automatically go for floaty to try and hide the, ah... bulges.
I have started cutting sugar from my diet and eating healthier but I'm not expecting miracles before the wedding. Ho hum.

I'm also fair skinned with dark hair, so I would have gravitated to that dress as well! Gorgeous color! I don't see why you couldn't "make it" be seasonally appropriate with tonal pinks/purples or a mustard accent versus pairing it with black. It's so hard to find summer clothing in flattering colors!
That being said, I read your description, and here are some dresses I gravitated towards with your requirements in mind:
#1
Asos £120.00
#2
Asos £31.50
#3 in mint
Asos £35.00
I think the last two would hit you a bit lower on the leg.
Also, I know you shy away from maxi's because you're petite, but I think they can be pulled off no matter what your height, if they are proportionally flattering. That might mean you have to get the bottom hemmed up, but paired with cute wedges, I think it could create a fabulous silhouette!
p.s. can someone please tell me how to imbed photos like RCW did? Thanks!

Will it be an evening wedding or daytime or what? Church? Beach? Backyard? Rented hall? Was there any indication given as to whether it wil be formal, semi formal, dressy, dressy casual, casual, or what?

If you would like to try a fitted dress, I think it would be wise to try a wrap dress or a sheath with strategically placed color blocking.
A wrap dress would conceal a bit of tummy and still be flattering for your bust. I think one with a sarong-style skirt would also be great, as it would balance out your top-heaviness.

A colorblock sheath could do wonders for your body, like this Stella McCartney dress made famous by Kate Winslet:

The color blocking, like above, should follow the curve of your body OR band at the waist to really draw the eye in waist and balance out your figure:

No. I have asked and got no reply. However, they are both young 22, one has just graduated as a Vicar, and my friend will graduate next year, also as a Vicar and they don't have a lot of money.
So I am assuming it is more a summer/semi formal do. Not that casual but not formal either. The wedding, is of course, in a church and then reception is at a local golf club which I imagine sounds quite basic, but these places can be quite posh sometimes. In the field nearby, a lot of guests will be camping lol.
Thanks for all the suggestions so far! I never would have considered some of these options myself! I really need you all to just take me shopping and tell me which dresses to try on lol

Love that one.
It looks like it's semi-low cut in a very doable way.
Kat- I like the one you bought too, and if the color is a little lighter than it looks, it should be good for late July. Late July and vivid hues go together.
You might want to check out Shabby Apple's fit to flatter feature.
