(oh,and no i don't think its a depression,only happens sporadically)
I normally try watching a good movie but it kinda stopped working...

Vigorous exercise
A little caffeine
A diet lower in carbs
Aromatherapy
B12 and other supplements

but not sure what you mean by "really down."
I used to keep a humor file...just wrote down all the funny things I heard/saw, good jokes, humorous lines from tv shows, etc. I kept it for over a year so I had plenty of material. Just a quick skim thru would have my sides splitting from laughter and improve my mood for hours.

But it's hard to say what the solution should be w/o knowng your life. Maybe some of it is situational? Do you get enough sleep? Are you dealing w/ a lot of stress?

sleep is very important. i also journal. writing my issues instead of constantly discussing them has been helpful. i've also used several of the brain sync mp3s with great success. i believe diet contributes to mental health. sometimes i feel that watching too much of trash tv, spending too much time online or being on social media can also drag my mood down and when that happens i just take a break from it and return when i feel ready. plus if there is something in your life that you know is obviously bringing you down, be it a relationship, job, finances, your health, whatever, you could spend some energy and resources trying to plan a strategy to resolve the issue and not just expect it to magically get better (not saying you are doing this but i hope you understand what i'm saying).

i'm going to a free session on natural remedies for mood and anxiety on sunday by local acupuncturist & wellness expert. i'll share what i learn.

Good thoughts on the variety of things which could cause it.

My first thought is typically too many carbs (I think Spidey mentioned that?), but beyond that it's how is your life lately? Are you feeling unfulfilled, empty, wanting more to happen? It doesn't take having any kind of clinical depression to find yourself in a point in your life where you're not thrilled with what's going on and feel down because of it.

I would take it as a sign that I need to look at my life, my eating, my health, my exercise levels, and put them all together to see if there's an answer of what's up.

you're welcome! i found out about it when i went to see a hypnotherapist. it was something i read about and wanted to check out. anyway, after our first session she loaned me a kelly howell cd to listen to. i started researching it and for me it made sense. since last year i've gotten a few different ones and i listen to them at work (for focus, productivity, procrastination, etc) and as they suggest when relaxing before falling asleep and i have seen a difference!

i don't mind sharing my "brain" mp3 successes here...

as i said earlier, i 1st got a cd from the hypnotherapist. it was called "attract love"...i was going to the therapist because i felt like maybe something deeper was going on that was blocking my ability to find love and happiness. anyway, i listened religiously. success: in nov a guy i'd been seeing exclusively for a couple of months asked me to be his girlfriend (i wanted to be exclusive). we've been dating and having a good time. i feel close to him and we've talked about the future. i actually met him earlier last year and he's a nice guy but at first i wasn't that attracted to him. i think it was the typical, faulty, nice guys are boring thinking. i think this mp3 and soul searching helped me realize this guys goodness and softened my heart towards him.

i recently got the super learning one because i felt like at work i was feeling blocked. i wanted to do well and do it quickly. success: a few days after listening to this i did an assignment at work that my boss was very happy with. i did it with ease. i felt good! it's been a few weeks now but the success i had with that one was almost instantaneous. i wrote a review for this mp3 on that site (my only review on there so far). you can read the review for more details.

i also have positive thinking, release & let go, fulfill your hearts desires, winning, wealth, weight loss acceleration and stress free forever that i haven't really gotten to yet. i make playlists to listen to at work. for example my work playlist includes super learning, stop procrastinating and positive thinking. i have a playlist that i continue to listen to that is about love and desire because i really want to be in a happy love situation that leads to marriage and kids so that playlist includes desires, attract love and release & let go. i listen with headphones as i fall asleep. the therapist said that was totally okay. a few of the mp3's are guided meditations (kelly talking) but many are just sound that have messages you can't make out but you also can't block them if that makes sense. they do have a sheet that comes with it that tells you the affirmations that are on the mp3. you are encouraged to say them a couple of times a day. they are things that resonate with me like "i let go and allow the higher plan for my life to unfold for me now" or "my love attracts equal and balanced love".

i asked the company about playlists and they said this
Quote:
We recommend that you work with 2 to 3 programs at a time so as to not overwhelm the mind with change. Below is how Kelly recommends you listen to multiple programs.

To combine multiple programs successfully, determine which programs you wish to work with initially and at what times of day. For example you may choose to listen to Beta centered programs such as High Focus or Brain Power in the morning or while you work. In the afternoon you might want an alpha or theta centered program to unwind. And before bed a delta centered program.

Read the descriptions of each brain state to determine what kind of mental energy you desire, and at which time of day.

In addition you can listen to subliminals all day long over speakers, but it’s not recommended to listen with headphones for more than one hour per day.

If you are working with a particular goal, such as weight loss or attracting wealth we recommend that you listen to those once a day for a period of 4 to 6 weeks. 30 to 60 minutes per day is sufficient to establish a change.

With the Secret Universal Mind Meditation, you can listen at a time when you want to meditate or while falling asleep.

Everyone has their own signature brain wave activity, which changes throughout the day. Explore what works best for you. Notice how a particular program impacts you at various times. Trust yourself to know what’s right for you. And by all means feel free to experiment!
hope that helps. any other questions just ask!

Thnx, luvmylocs!

Another question: do you find the content to be very "spiritual" or at odds w/ your existing spiritual beliefs? I mean, I know some of the topics are going to be spiritual in nature. But the ones you mention are just general life stuff. Is the feel of the script very new agey and existential/cosmic? Or just practical?

you're welcome!

it's not spiritual or new agey or in conflict with my beliefs in any way. it's really like positive self-talk and positive affirmations. they are things a close friend or loving mother would say to you. i think it works because it's things we should be saying to ourself but we don't. because you can't hear the words (they're sublimal) you can't reject them consciously or unconsciously. it makes sense to me. the guided meditation ones are helpful too. like anything i think a part of you has to believe there's power in this. i did/do. when i was going to the hypnotherapist i felt a breakthrough. i went to several sessions but she was so expensive i couldn't afford to keep going. these were the next best thing and a wonderful investment considering i feel like they do actually work!

I have lupus and fibro so energy is a really problem.
Nutrition is so incredibly important. I use several supplements also. D-Ribose is one that my husband and children use also. Helps with energy and muscle recovery.
B vitamins, caffeine, aromatherapy, exercise, napping as needed.

Quality sleep is essential. I listen to binaural beats and sleep inducing music. You can use these beats for sleep, energy, concentration, etc. I don't use the website listed but here's some info from that site
Brainwave Therapy

Meditation, guided imagery and positive affirmations all contribute to overall mental and physical health which helps with energy.

below is the description of the free session i'm going to sunday. i'll share what i learn.

Quote:
Natural Secrets for Depression, Anxiety, and Other Mood Issues

Learn a new perspective on mood -- one that awakens and empowers you. Presenter Chris Axelrad has successfully helped many to overcome depression and anxiety using 100% natural methods. In this seminar, he shares pearls of wisdom that will help you to gain more control over your mood -- both in the short and long-term.

Anti-depressants and other medicines can be helpful, and by no means does Chris advocate against them. However, medication does not release or change emotional and mental patterns that are at the core of depression. Additionally, the serotonin model of depression is, like all scientific models, over-simplified and does not account for other health issues that severely impact neurological functioning.

At this FREE seminar, you learn simple concepts and remedies to help you ensure that you support healthy mood and minimize systemic issues that contribute to poor neurological functioning.

Topics covered include:
- The REAL causes of depression, anxiety, and other mood disorders
- Foods and supplements that help balance neurotransmitter function and ensure healthy mood
- Special herbal remedies that target anxiety and depression
- Mind-body exercises to reduce stress and help you combat unhealthy mood now and for the long-term
