I'm probably the wrong person to ask. I rarely check expiration dates and still use things (especially canned goods, dry goods, frozen foods, and the like) way past their end dates. I never get sick.
I would use that tuna if it was mine.

I'm like Jeepy. If it helps, food banks use things up to 6 months after expiration date

Tuna is usually marked as good for 2 years.
2 x 365 = 730
11 days / 730 days = .015, which = 1.5%
I figure if you are only that much over, it can't be bad.
It may not be 'best' for texture and taste or colour, but it's not going to make you sick due to its age.

That's how it was at the Cleveland Food Bank when I was sorting. We tossed everything over 6 months old.

No they don't in WA state! I volunteer at our local food bank and we dump everything after the date!

Expiration dates geneally inform you about the quality of the food ,not the safety. So yes, you can pretty much eat anything after the expiration date. I dont remember how many months after expiration our food bank uses as a rule to throw out food.
The only product with a hard and fast rule about not consuming after expiration is baby food and baby formula.

Considering it's fish that's been in a can at room temp for a long time . I'd pass.

It's completely different from leaving fresh fish at room temperature. There's no real danger unless the can were to be damaged, which it's not.

Death by tuna.
Something sounds really wrong with that.

LOL i survived!! i'm here. don't count me out yet
the tuna was fine. i think it was a little more mushy than firm but otherwise fine. i'll do a better job of eating my pantry foods before expiration.
i'm big on reading expiration dates on everything. it's amazing how much stuff is on the shelves, expired! just yesterday i was buying some silk almond milk single serve, they're $1 a piece and are great in smoothies. anyway, one was expired right there with those that had expirations in dec 2012.
anyway, thanks for checking on me girls.

I am like Jeepy. For canned stuff I do not pay much attention to it. Milk on the other hand I think has a bomb in it that explodes the day of the use by date and it turns rancid that day. Thank goodness I drink a lot of milk so it rarely goes bad.
I am glad you survived luvmylocs but I would have blamed scrills if it had gone awry.
