Default Anyone with an online subscription to ConsumerReports.org?

I need to find out which insect repellants worked best.

Thanks!

Hi Medussa~

All of these are at the top and scored the best:

Off Deep Woods Sportsmen II
Cutler Backwoods Unscented
Off Familycare Smooth & Dry
3M Ultathon Insect Repellent 8
Repel Plant Based Lemon Eucalyptus

The highest rating was 100. All of these scored 98 with the exception of Repel - it scored 97 and does not contain deet.

Not sure if the video is recent, but from the overview this sounds like a pretty similar study...

Thanks so much Curly66 and CurlyCanadian! The information is very helpful. We have Deep Woods but I have real concerns about applying it on the kids. I also have Repel but it stinks like you wouldn't believe. Well, stinky kids it is!

Oh, I'm so glad you asked this, medussa! We're heading up north to camp next week and I really didn't want to get a deet-based insect repellant.

The Repel does seem to work. It just has a very strong scent. You may not mind it though. I found it at Target.

Have fun on your camping trip!

Thank you!

SO picked up the Repel and some regular Deep Woods as a back up at Target.

ETA: We're also taking brewers yeast, it's supposed to help. A bit of an experiment. Bugs love me and we're headed to an area where the mosquitoes are the size of small birds, apparently.
