Default RIP Nora Ephron and Don Grady

It's always sad to hear of the loss of people from favorite movies or childhood tv shows. They might be strangers but it seems like we know them sometimes.

I hated Norah Ephron's movies and much of her writing, but she was very witty in interviews.

My Three Sons was one of those shows that drove me nuts. What was the name of the grumpy Uncle? The whole thing was so unrealistic.

Sorry for the snark.

Well I always do wonder why people go into threads that they have no interest in or when they dislike the subject. That's like me going into a thread about cheese just so I can tell everyone how much I hate cheese.
But it's a free forum, and you rescue dogs, so you're still AOK in my book. : )

I guess I wanted to say something nice about Ephron. And I wondered if anyone else found My Three Sons surreal.

But I see your point. And I do rescue dogs. So thanks for still liking me.

I would never not like you. hee.
I find lots of things unrealistic, silly, stupid even. I guess I feel lucky that I can still find enjoyment in them.

i love Sleepless in Seattle!

there... i admit it!

the movie is ridiculously far-fetched, but i loved how Tom Hanks' character adored his late wife and talked about how he knew when he first touched her hand that there was magic between them.

and then at the end of the movie when he takes Meg Ryan's hand in his and you can tell he feels it again.

yes, i'm a sap...

Julie and Julia is one of my favorite movies ever. I've watched it 4 or 5 times. I love the story and the cast and the food of course. I think it will go on my list of movies to watch this weekend. Oh and I think Michael will go on the list too.

I was surprised to hear yesterday that Silkwood was one of her movies, too - didn't remember that from back in the day. Seems out of character for Ephron compared to all the others, though I liked it, too.

I love me some My Three Sons and used to have a big crush on Don Grady. In fact, I love Leave it to Beaver, Father Knows Best, Donna Reed, Hazel - all those old sitcoms from my childhood, so there, LOL! I've got enough realism, Claudine19. . . But actually they weren't that unrealistic for the times, though you may be too young to remember, or even to have been around.

Didn't realize that some were already in reruns even when I first watched them in the very late 50's and early 60's. I love when I run across them now on Antenna TV, etc.

When Harry Met Sally is one of my top three all time favorite movies. I always watch it when I'm home sick.
