I think she's been great at anchoring! I do love her out in the field so that will be good. It's pretty carpy how they sent her off without fanfare. Other anchors got the whole video montage goodbye.

This whole thing reminds of the Conan/Leno debacle. Boo, NBC!

I did not understand the reason for her to have to do the good bye show. It was just uncomfortable and odd.

I watch the today so every morning. I like Ann Cury but I feel she is a better field journalist than an anchor. There are so many rumors going around like Regis joining Kathy Lee and Hoda taking Ann's spot I cannot stand their segment Kathy Lee is soooo annoying. As for Matt he has been rumor to have slept with Whitney Houston's niece. Lol who knows. However who I do like is Tamron Hall.

I know I am late to the party but I agree with everyone's sentiments. I always found her interviews to be somewhat forced and awkward and not at all natural. I agree that she is a great correspondent and seems to have a great way with dignitaries but the common folk and celebrities always come off weird.

I did feel badly for her upon seeing her announcement because I think she took it as a personal attack on her character, which is understandable. I always liked her personality and found her to be sweet and sympathetic.

That was odd...did they say WHY she's leaving, other than to become a special correspondent? Sounds like a demotion.

I always thought her low-pitched voice was a put-on.

I think it was a demotion. I hear ratings went down after she began co-hosting and that Good Morning America beat out the Today Show recently for the first time in many years. But that happened around the time when Robin Roberts had her health issue announcement.

it's been rumored for weeks she was out because apparently ratings are down because of her...

I do feel badly for her. It's a messed up situation. I like Ann Curry; I just didn't think she was the best in that role. I've actually met her and she was very nice. (She called me pretty...hee!).

Ha, I grew up watching the Today show and I never thought anybody watched GMA.

I think how NBC handled the situation was terrible for poor Ann. They leaked it to the press that she was getting let go instead of just letting her decide how she wanted to announce her departure. I doubt the ratings dip had much to do with her anyway, as much as it has to do with the fact that the Today show has become Inside Edition AM.

I don't exactly watch any of them, but when I have, I usually went for GMA and only watched Today later (it ends an hour later than GMA, doesn't it?).

I've never watched those morning news shows on a regular basis...too many commercials, too little content, too many promos and cliffhangers and fluff, not enough meat. They're just...trite.

Yes, a real journalist. He doesn't do all that chit chatty stuff. CBS seems to have better in depth coverage since they brought him in as morning anchor.

ITA that they handled the situation poorly with Ann. She paid her dues with NBC for over 10 years and didn't deserve to be dumped that way.

I started watching the Today Show while living overseas when my husband was in the service. I am starting to be bothered by some of the stories they continue to cover, mostly celebrity related.

came across this while reading about ann curry...

dave price moved from fox 5 in the morning as weatherman to cbs early show weatherman:

not sure when that gig ended.

ernie anastos used to work at abc as evening news anchor:

i guess he eventually moved to cbs evening and night news anchor and then to fox 5 evening and night news anchor (eww, he's had plastic surgery!):

(in the above pic dari alexander is looking freaked out after ernie made some remark about "keep fckin' those chickens")

now i read that dave price is returning to fox 5 as weatherman and ernie is no longer anchorman on the evening news but has been moved to the morning show with dave while the dude in the morning show will replace ernie:

Quote:
“Good Day New York” co-host Greg Kelly, whose career was on the ropes just six months ago after he was accused of rape, is kissing Rosanna Scotto goodbye and becoming an anchorman.
In a remarkable turnaround, Kelly will take over Monday as co-anchor of WNYW’s 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts, where he will be teamed up with Dari Alexander.

ITA. That was a horrible interview. I never realized how awkward she was. She is great at the serious stuff, but not at the fluff. Maybe being let go was a good move in the long run.

I've never watched any of these morning shows and didnt realize how popular they were. I'm guessing they come on around 7-8? I could have the TV on in the background while I'm getting ready but I am not a morning person and usually rushing to get out the door. Definitely don't have time to sit and watch tv. I'd rather spend that time sleeping.
