Whoa. I know this was always kind of a weird pairing ... starting with the couch jumping. Lol. But for some reason I am still surprised!

I was starting to think they'd last because it boggled my mind that they were together so long in the first place.
Katie's life would have been so different if she'd never broken up with Joshua Jackson.

I felt bad for their daughter anyway. That kid is spoiled in a dozen different ways. And not just cause her parents are rich.
Clearly no one expected them to last, but I was waiting for the announcement after his new movie came out.
Celebrity relationships have to be so hard. You endure long periods of time apart with movie shoots, then you go through the publicity and the limelight of selling the movie....most people just want to spend time with the person they love. The relationship does well when they have downtime but when their careers boom again, there's no time for a relationship.
Plus, they're just crazy.

The weird thing is that the break-up supposedly happened because JJ didn't want to commit, or was too much of a player, but he's been with Diane Kruger for a long time now.

Hmm I wonder if it's because Diane says she never wants to marry again.
I guess she's divorced and just doesn't want any part of the institution (from what I've read). Perhaps old JJ feels 'off the hook' or something.

I definitely was pretty sure they would divorce but I thought maybe it would be 8 or 10 years in like he did with Nicole Kidman and left her high and dry. But it seems in this case Katie wants out. Here goes my husband: "Oh what, she finally decided to get a mind of her own ?" then he rolled his eyes and went to finishing cleaning our pool. LOL!

And I am sorry for her parents. I was hoping they'd last, but not really surprised they didn't. I expect Tom is hard to deal with, and Katie just seems so normal and unstarlike (in a good way).

By 2003 Katie Holmes was dating Chris Klein. And they got engaged in 2005. She broke it off with Klein and directly after their break up she took up with Tom Cruise within weeks. And they (Holmes and Cruise) got engaged that June then married the following year.
