Wow! Wowwowwow!!
Those lions are planning a caper.
I dislike seeing the skins for sale.
I very much like the water buffalo and elephants.
Some of the birds look very......kooky.
It is a joy to me to experience all this vicariously. My heart swelled at the shots taken from the plane. Thank you.

Beautiful! If you go on another trip like this and need an assistant, I volunteer. I'm really good at carrying stuff and always have minty gum to share. Also, I will only make up goofy songs about the various animals if you want me to.

We never did figure out if the skins were truly legal to sell. The guy selling them was apparently the "permit" holder and he wasn't there to talk about them.
The trip was amazing, the work was amazing. We had all kinds of fun practicals - they did a crime scene practical, served a search warrant, conducted surveillance of a buy, tons of fun.
We did one safari in South Africa and then another one in the Okavango Delta. The Delta was amazing. South Africa was neat, but it was more park like, even though it's the 4th largest preserve in ZA. Horseback riding across the Delta was also amazing. All in all, it was amazing.

I'm currently reading the No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency books and it takes place in Botswana. It's nice to see pictures of some of the things she the heroine talks about. It really is as beautiful as it's described in the book.

Everywhere we went, and I mean EVERYWHERE, they would ask us if we read the books. When we drove down to South Africa, the driver was pointing out locations from the books. It was so awesome. I was so glad I had read them. They also talked about the show and how much they loved Jill Scott in the lead role. So much fun!

It was a work trip. We were teaching a Wildlife Investigations course at the International Law Enforcement Academy. We had 2 weekends to ourselves, one in South Africa and one in the Okevango.
