Yes, this. This makes me admire him more.

Eventually we'll get to the point where it really doesn't matter and where we don't need to see lgbtq role models, but we are not there yet. There is still so much bullying and bashing and real, measurable discrimination and hate crimes against lgbtq people. So I think it's awesome when someone positive, successful, and high-profile comes out, even in cases where everyone kind of figured the person was gay anyway. It does help people, gay and straight.
